  1. When, hopefully, we really are safe I'll certainly be grateful to Tony P for the points gained under his watch.
  2. Both. Fans pay money to see the team. That makes them both customers and fans of OAFC.
  3. If people pay a lot of money for a meal in a restaurant and the meal tastes like crap then they complain. Now, football fans don't generally get the opportunity to make a complaint - so I see booing as a reasonable form of complaint when what they're being served up is crap. I didn't boo last Saturday - but I don't get to matches very often. If I had seen more matches and more insipid performances like the first half last Saturday I probably would. I don't think the booing has a massive negative effect on the players. Plenty of them didn't/don't seem to care about our team heading for relagation so I don't think a blast of booing is going to take much out of them.
  4. I won't be there on Monday - for me a Latics match involves booking a flight from Dublin, a hotel and a day or two off work... But I will be there next Saturday for Carlisle! Bring it on! I'm really looking forward to it - and hopefully we have three more points in the bag between now and then.
  5. That BBC article is a flimsy crock of :censored:e. The word 'racism' is sprinkled through it - and it looks to me that the piece was put together with racism as a theme in mind before any "straw poll" was carried out. I think a piece like this on the BBC is damaging. The innuendo is that Oldham Athletic is a racist club - utter crap. As with any club there may be problems etc, but this piece stretches that to the point of fabrication. For example the "straw poll". The words "racism hangover" are highlighted in a sub-headline - but why not the words "too expensive"? The reason is cos too expensive makes for a crap story. Stick in the racism bit and the BBC feel like they are making a point - at the expense of our club's reputation. If you are going to put up, for all the world to see, a blatant innuendo that a club or organisation or business is racist, I'd have thought you would need plenty of ammo to back that innuendo up. Clearly the BBC don't think so. And if any Asians who hadnt been to a match before were thinking about going to our next home game - what chances of them going if they see a piece of crap like this? Racism is a serious issue, one that affects many clubs in many sports in many walks of life. I think an article like this discredits the anti-racism cause such is its shoddy cobbled together nature.
  6. I'd love if Latics came to Ireland - it would save me the price of an air fare for a change! I saw us play Cobh Ramblers many years ago in Cork. Great craic. And surely an Ireland jaunt would be more affordable than further afield? Anyway, if Latics do come to Ireland again I promise to get the first round in at the bar...
  7. The same sort of idiots who would make a day out of traveling to the Big Brother house so they could boo at people being 'evicted' - they are the same breed of gob:censored:e that take the time to threaten players, managers, etc. Thankfully these people are usually too stupid to tie their own shoe laces than to be a real danger. However, that's no comfort to those on the receiving end. These idiots should be dealt with as they arise. Somebody - most likely - knows who has been acting the utter idiot in the past. If they do it again, they'll most likely tell someone they've done it again. So shop them. Tell the club and the cops. These fools need sorting.
  8. I feel like I've no choice now but reluctant blind optimism. I'll support Latics as long as they exist - but my optimism is stemming from hope and not much else. We have ten games to scrape our way out of this mess. We have a team with potential that play like they've nothing to play for. I hope the gamble on Johnson is a spark that turns things around. If we survive though, I'll most likely credit the points gained under TP.
  9. Any protest in any form will achieve and mean nothing positive for Latics. If people individually chose not to attend, that is their right. But it won't achieve anything positive for the club. I know it costs good money to follow Latics, and it can mean years of frustration and annoyance. But I respect those who attend week in week out. I believe there's a core group that'll do that no matter who's in charge. I respect and appreciate those supporters. As much as I am underwhelmed by the probable Lee Johnson appointment, now - in my opinion - is not the time for protests.
  10. The nine points from three games - when we were getting flip all out of the league for weeks before - will be and are crucial to this club. Massively so. Thanks TP, a real football man.
  11. I fail to believe he'll be given the job without someone experienced alongside him. So I expect that his fate with us will depend on how good that experienced person is - but even if that person is extremely experienced I can't see the chances of this gamble paying off as any better than a one in ten shot. If he doesn't have someone experienced alongside him, I recon he and us are screwed.
  12. Corney said he would listen to the fans - that's not saying he would do what the fans want. He can listen all day then do something else, like appoint Lee Johnson for example. But if there's a fan who wanted that, I'd be amazed. If there is a fan who backed Lee in the bookies I'd be very interested in hearing what they think next week's lotto numbers are.
  13. It doesn't say much for the other applicants if this is who we're ending up with.
  14. This guy must give one hell of a job interview. I'm annoyed with myself that I didn't apply for the job now.
  15. I updated the app and it has gone from bad to worse. It just crashes every time now.
  16. I'd be happy with a Joe and Andy management team. I'd even be optimistic about it.
  17. I almost fall into the trap of thinking that maybe he does subtle things that I don't notice that make a difference. Then I quickly realise he has been dire.
  18. This is why it's so special to support Latics. I've a few memories with my own dad from back in the day, they shaped me as a person. Real football is great, real supporters are priceless - and Latics still have a few thousand real supporters.

  20. Sensational support. Those at the heart of it are the heart and soul of the club. We're not rich, we're not glamorous, but we're f?????g proud and we made noise that'll remind "premier" people - or at least those honest enough to remember - what it's all about. Well done, and thank you to all who were there cos I couldn't be - but my passion couldn't have been better represented. Thanks again - great from start to finish.
  21. Inconsistent. Weak. And on many occasions wrong. I'm not blaming the ref for the loss - but he certainly had an impact on the result through his mistakes. The three minutes was shockingly blatant in its wrongness.
  22. In my opinion, our next league result will sum up what's in store for the rest of the season. Win, and we'll continue to soar away from the dogfight. Draw, and it's nerves tested to the end when it could go either way. Lose, and rot can set back in like the FA Cup run never happened and we're screwed. Am I attaching to much importance to what happens next? I don't think I am, but would be interested in other thoughts on it. This cup run has slightly helped banish my sickened feeling about the FA Cup since that goal years ago by that Welsh man. But now I hope we can build on what we have achieved in the Cup - and not fall into a rot. Is the next match really that crucial psychologically - or am I just haunted by ghosts of cup runs past?
