  1. They have some nerve complaining about car parking on the bungalow estate next to Latics the cheeky bastards. I drive home from work through that estate every day and it's like a bloody obstacle course trying to navigate the road through with the amount of parked cars on the main road. It wouldn't be so bad if the driveways had a car on them already but many stand empty while a car is blocking the road.
  2. I've followed all those steps previously so hopefully we get some more to follow (I've emailed my MP too before about this but got :censored:ed off with nonsensical reply) Really hope you guys get it done. I think you've hit the nail on the head with two points you make about this campaign that firstly this is not just being about standing but making sure people who wish to (mainly) sit can do so in the right areas and secondly that this is not about bringing back old school terracing which i imagine are most other peoples worries. Not wanting to sound nasty but i really hope the issue of Hillsborough doesn't have much of an effect on whether this gets passed (though i fear it will have some bearing) or any campaign group for them. As tragic as the situation was it was other factors that caused the deaths of the Liverpool fans and not the standing in of itself.
  3. I remeber writing to my local MP last time something like this came up and got :censored:ed off with a non-sensical answer off him as to why he is opposed to standing and why it isn't allowed plus he ignored all the valid points i put forward to him as to why it should be brought back. Doubt i'll get a different answer off of the self serving prick.
  4. Think i'm giving it a miss after how miserable i've been after the last two games up there. Seems to take forever to get there, was gutting to lose the two previous seasons games where we were 2 and 3 nil up, and more gutting to concede in the last minute both games and put up with all the smug faced United fans on the way back to the cars. To top it off after the 3 nil up game my car packed in (costing a cool £500 to fix) just as i was 15 minutes from home on the M60 and stood on the hard shoulder for three hours in the pissing rain on my own. :censored: Carlisle! Then again I've not been to an away game for a bit...........
  5. Heard it kicked off big time in the centre of Oldham but not heard anything about outside the ground.
  6. There's just something about standing that makes it easier to sing. I'm not saying if standing was brought back it would be bring with it wall to wall noise for 90 mins but certainly encourage those who are going to sing (thinking those young 'uns in the Rocky) they have a chance to get something going. Certainly when it's points in a game when we need to get behind the lads (at the moment seemingly more points than less haha) that bit of noise could at least try and help lift the lads.
  7. As so often happens in these debates i'll refer to the German model currently used (can't be arsed finding pictures) which eliminates any chance of crushing which use to occur. I don't think anyone in their right minds wants a return to way the way terraces use to be and looked like. However plenty of people still wish to stand and the way the current German models work it can be done in a very health and saftey way (just think adding handrails on each row just in front of the seats to allow you to safely stand as a rough idea). Everyone is a winner too as I'm fairly sure in Germany there is still plenty of normal seats available (understandably, plenty of people such as yourelf, wish to sit). I can't reasonably see why both types of punter can not be accomadated into exsisting stadia. It was a tragic event that took place that was rightly used as highlighting the pretty :censored: standard of grounds and their potential for disaster but wrongly had people believe that standing in itself was unsafe (I'm sure this was noted in the Taylor report that standing in itself wasn't a problem). I hope sometime after the reports have been out and the dust has settled that a reasoned debate can take place as i reckon now would be the wrong time to try and push for new legislation with emotions so raw again on a sensitive issue.
  8. I might as well ask but is the rifle range running a coach down and are there any seats left on that if there is?
  9. Okay cheers mate and thanks to others who responded!
  10. Not seen a thread for this but then i haven't looked down the page too far. Is there a coach on for Portsmouth on Saturday? If so how much and what time is it setting off? Cheers
  11. I'll never accept the argument (dunno if it's been mentioned on this thread but it has before) that 'Wimbledon were going to go bust so we might as well have taken their place anyway'. No. If the Dons were going to go bust they should have been allowed to do so on their own terms (let their fans do what they have done and rebuild their club) and let the place they vacated naturally go to a club from the league below and so on, all the way down the leagues to the bottom of the pyramid. If the town wanted a football club so badly you should have supported that local side you have mentioned and get everyone interested to support them up through the leagues.
  12. Been to it once on a freebie before. Not only is it an abonimation of a club and they cheated their way into the league but it doesn't help that they've got a worse atmosphere than BP and as an away day it is quite a :censored: ground to do! (In terms of the lack of any local boozers). :censored: 'em i say!
  13. Is there no other way to donate? I'm not sure how paypal works as i never use it.
  14. Only two teams for me: Oldham and Oldham reserves! I'm 24 and i hate both United and City (City more recently). When you and your Latics supporting mates go to school with a load of gobby, scruffy Manc wannabes (also doesn't help having a dirty red as an uncle) giving it the big i am because of who they were, (in keegan's tone) 'i love it, i love it' when either get beat. Loved it when we beat City 1-0 after getting a weeks worth of score predicitions all heavily favouring City in school. Loved it being in the same pub as my uncle (who was with a load of other reds) when they got dicked 6-1 off of City and seeing those smug grins gone. I'd never wish any of them go bust though. Only one team gets that dubious honour: MK Franchise.
  15. As long as previous experience is not a requirement i'd be happy to try my hand at an/a few article/s. Not that i have any idea what to try writing about probably better if i was told what kind of article you would like/covering and i would try my best. Be nice to get a bit of a tradition back at the club that most other teams seems to have.
  16. The same thought occured to me! If one such place opened i don't think i would have anything else for tea!
  17. Yeah true, be a shame that the capacity will probably be reduced, hopefully there is room for expansion if it's ever needed.
  18. The way i read it in the chron, im thinking, are we sticking with the stand design we were originally going to get a few years ago before the economic downturn/Bashforth stupidity stopped us from building?
  19. My inital reaction was ':censored: that, 15 quid for a friendly, im not going' and was echoed by a good number of Latics supporting work mates. However i've had a little time to now digest the news. Im just going to weigh it up for what it is nearer the time. If the City Euro 2012 players that are mentioned looked nailed on to be involved then i'll go. If it's just a City team full of kids i'll not go and some gullible City fool/fan can have my seat. Although it smacks of money grabbing (and as frustrating as it is we have to do so) i can't blame the club as it needs all the money it can get. Blame the way football is currently driven by money if you want somehting to whinge about.
  20. If it's what im thinking its similar to a bleep test and i did similar in some footy training last week. Basically you start from an initial spot with point 1 being nearest, then the 2nd point, then the furthest from you being the 3rd point. All points being in a straight line from you and a number of yards between each point. The idea is to then sprint to each point and back in order of however it is shouted out. For e.g. if its shouted "2,3,1", you sprint to 2 and sprint back to the start, then sprint to 3 and sprint back to the start then same again for 1. I think that's what they are talking about anyway.
  21. Well that's what i thought but how much more do we sell at a non-discount price after the discount period? We've already sold the vast majority of season tickets we normally do at this point so there won't be too much damage done on being able to pay players wages if those that might be buying a non-discount ST wait for a 2nd discount period. I think it's worth the risk of losing that bit of extra money that we could get from those that are willing to pay full whack but then pay discounted prices against enticing back a number of fans who wern't going to renew or were still half and half but now have a bit of feel good feeling back about the club (down to a number of variables coming off i know) along with those that were going to renew anyway. The added discount period could be just the thing to push them over the edge and renew. It maybe could be the difference to selling just another 100 season tickets at non discount to another 300 sold on top of what we already have. I'm not suggesting it is something the club should do regularly each season as, like you say, it could impact on the amount we sell early doors and thus our ability to pay players wages through the summer. But i reckon the main reason the club are doing the discount on Saturday is that they are down on adult season tickets (major source of money) from last year and have probably sold little, if any at all, from the end of the discount period to now. If there willing to do this now i see no reason to not add another as i suggested and, all things being good, gaining a number more ST holders than they bargained for. All pie in the sky bollocks of course haha
  22. I think there could be an idea for the club to do this the last weekend before the season kick's off and announce they will be doing so far enough in advance to let people save up. Hopefully by then we'll have heard some news on the new stand (which Corney has apparently mentioned in an interview recently that he was hopeful of announcing something in the next 6-8 weeks), a couple of decent signings (hopefully) along with not losing anymore of our senior players and signs of the team looking okay in pre-season (I know you can never tell how well a team will do from pre=season) to generate a bit of a feel good factor round the club. Coupled with the fact that it will have been as long as possible since the end of last season some people will be itching to go football again, as most of us all do, with the struggles in the seond half of this season a slightly distant memeory (though not fully forgotten i'm sure).
  23. I like that the shorts on the new away kit are more a Latics blue than the new home kit........ not.
  24. Not sure if it's been mentioned but try Kingdom Rush on Armour games. It's class!
  25. Was going to buy it, think i'll pass now, just not the shade of blue that imo is the club colours. Might seem ridiculous but it's the way i feel on it. I'm going to buy this seasons shirt (More cause i want the final shirt we will have with the old club badge) and just use the rest of what i would of paid for a new shirt on bits and bats in the club shop.
