  1. 'It's only a cup game anyway' That's not the point, winning breeds confidence so for me a win should be our aim. We need all the money we can get this season and income from cup runs is not budgeted for and would be very welcome. We went out in the first round of every cup last season so a little success is well overdue!
  2. It didn't matter in the end but that free kick from which Stephens scored should have been a penalty!
  3. For a club in our financial position the money is here and now...guaranteed, there's no certainty that he will ever become a premiership quality player and we have to negotiate with that in mind. Anything over £300K with add-ons has to be a good deal surely!
  4. I think loans like Tounkara and Mvoto have the potential to become permanent deals, Eaves however, would be here for only one season no matter what happens.
  5. Just watched Dickov on LW...the guy is a breath of fresh air and so different to the doom and gloom Dave Penney campaign!! He says he has high hopes for Dean Kelly and thinks he will be a big player for us along with Andrew Crompton who'll also be in the squad tomorrow night. These are both young lads and the old saying 'if you're good enough you're old enough' rings true. There will definitely be NO guaranteed places for the old brigade this season and it will give a massive lift to all our talented youngsters looking to make the grade. It's early days I know but I've a feeling the surprise appointment of Dickov as manager will turn out to be the best bit of business we've done in years!! The atmosphere at Tranmere was fantastic..........the feel good factor is well and truly back and it's the first time in ages where I've felt like the next game can't come quick enough!!! Bring it on!!!!
  6. Dickov's got a heel injury from training and will not figure. Kelly looked pretty sharp when he came on at Tranmere and he will be busting a gut to impress and stake a claim for Saturday....if Dickov wants effort he'll certainly get it with Kelly!!!
  7. If we can get 3 or 4 of them out and 1 or 2 more quality players in then that would be even better!!
  8. For the 1st round of the Carling cup on a tuesday night after an expensive weekend I would be surprised to see more than 500.
  9. You're right the stand has a capacity of 2,500 it's on TRFC official site. With the cordoned off area at the front etc the capacity on the day I'm led to believe was a little over 2,200. Looking at the BBC highlights on i player today there were, as people have sald, quite a lot of empty seats, so the crowd figure given was in my opinion pretty much bang on! Sheffield Wed and Huddersfield will be the only clubs to better that this season and perhaps Notts County if they are challenging at the top. Our home core crowd was around 4200 last season so to say we took over 40% of them to Tranmere on Saturday is phenominal!! If we can give a good account of ourselves at Scunthorpe tomorrow, Dickov's first home game in charge against Notts County and Lee Hughes could bring a few stayaway fans back to Boundary Park. I know it's the holiday season but a sub 7000 crowd would in my opinion be dissapointing!
  10. Hazell 5'11" and Jarrett 6'0" They have Showumni at 6'5" who has given us problems in the past. I reckon M'voto at 6'4" is a good bet to make his debut!
  11. The fact that he's still captain suggests he will play in the majority of games if he can retain his fitness!
  12. You would think they would have requested more tickets a little earlier instead of letting them sell out!!
  13. Just been released by Leeds........previously some on here suggested £100,000 fee was required. Worth consideration for us?
  14. Come out of the station turn right and keep walking until Borough Rd traffic lights where you turn right...the ground is about 1/2 mile on the left. Roughly 15-20minutes walk in total.
  15. Not officially but it might well be on Saturday!!!!
  16. Lady in the ticket office said the busiest day is always after payday on Friday.........Probably 1200 advance sales and a few hundred will pay on the day. I reckon we will have close to 2000.....it should be a cracking atmosphere and a thumping good win would be just brilliant!!
  17. For 17-22 year old's it's only £10.50 but to buy from Tranmere on the day you will need I.D....I think what they're saying is that if you buy them in advance from Latics I.D is not required. The way it's worded on the O.S could put people off traveling to Tranmere to pay on the day.....typical of Latics lack of correct info!!!!!
  18. Why don't you toodle off on to Cowsheds board instead of boring us to death on here!!!
  19. No, your right ........due to the alcohol, I'll probably crawl!!!
  20. Just got a couple of tickets for Saturday....apparently we have sold over 600 already. With nearly a week to go and pay on the day punters we should have a great following. Looking forward to a good booze, a cracking atmosphere, and more importantly ......3 points!!!
  21. Apart from Feeney the club is littered with young inexperienced strikers....I reckon there is room for a little experience and a Scowcroft type would be OK on a 12 month deal.
  22. PD has had a few weeks to look at him and obviously feels we can prosper without him....yes, he, along with Gregan saved our 1st division status last season, but, he's not be all and end all for us. We have a few young strikers who need games and keeping Pav could have held them back still further.....I reckon it will turn out to be a good move and we'll see a much quicker tempo and work ethic throughout the team. A play-off place is not out of our reach!!!
  23. I thought we'd be stuck with him for the remainder of his contract...good move for Colbeck and a chance of regular Ist team football. That leaves Purdie, Jacobson and Worthington......................... just about everybody commented that they were all 2nd div players and have been proved right, christ, Penney brought in some sh**e!!!
  24. Agree with that, only thing that worries me is our financial situation and the fact that we have outstanding loans from Blitz and Gazal to pay back. I think we should hold on to the lad for as long as we can as his value can only go up after today's showing. A lot will depend on our progress in the league and the Micah Richards situation .....fingers crossed, if he is transferred anytime soon we will be OK!!
  25. Christ on a bike......those are amongst the worst player recommendations I have ever seen. Trannie fans must be ' Over the moon '. LOL!!!!
