  1. Interesting that it does not say how many tickets you can purchase - probably an omission.
  2. The only player I would send out on loan is Miller and then I would forget where I had sent him! Has to keep Taylor! Surely we are not going to play Iwelumo and Baxter as our strikers on Saturday. Has PD not learned anything from beating Liverpool?
  3. Well here we go again! We get a plea from Corney and then if anybody wants one of our players off they bloody well go. If the club wants supporters then the club has got to build a credible team and that means players who stay and players who have some feeling for the club. Matt Smith is getting better by the match and here most of you are supporting a cut and run policy. Makes you sick. This man has put his body on the line for our team and will continue to do so. Corney should be offering him a new contract rather than selling him.
  4. Ah well I'll make Ebay even richer and use PayPal.
  5. Makes Iwelumo a necessary signing. Still need two more and no excuses with the money that is now available. It makes that bad feeling in the pit of my stomach much worse - sometimes it is just written. Dan Taylor will have to prove himself now.
  6. Would like to donate but happy to avoid paypal and not knowing who you are! I go to games via the Rifle Range and sit with the Main Stand moaners. Any chance of someone wearing a red carnation or sending the lass with or without the pole?
  7. The way I see it it was Smith and (alas) Jones who won us the game - the Wabara cross for the second was so bad Jones lost concentration and spilled it to the ever mobile Croft who looked up and passed the ball to Smith for the tap in. Wabara can't cross and can't defend - more goals conceded from crosses from the right back than from the left. He did score the third goal so good on him but we will not miss him. I would rather have a more experienced loan player at right back who is interested in playing in league 1 or our own player as Wabara had no interest in this. Happy he stayed and happy he has now gone. I wish him well.
  8. Smith shrugged off his injury after the game and would have been on until the end. Simpson is Simpson but he did provide the much needed support for Smith up front. It is obvious what you get with Smith, even Townsend commented in the first half, I've just watched a recording and still got nervous towards the end(!), that he needed someone to play alongside him. Smith has improved with every game, his strength, his awareness, his confidence, his accuracy - he is a player in form and getting better. The obvious person for which we need cover? I think not! he just has to have someone to play alongside him. I would start with Simpson and put Taylor on as a sub in the second. Iwelumo would be a mistake unless there are other signings to come. We need a right back, a left wing and a quicker more mobile striker before a big lump. And another thing we didn't just lump the ball forward against Liverpool so going two lumps up front would be a backward step.
  9. Brendan was spot on - young players who didn't have the fight. Now when we go to Walsall and entertain Yeovil will our young players still have the fight?
  10. So it was the miss that saw us relegated and not the Mark Hughes goal - I've been blaming him for what I've been watching for the last twenty years. Sorry Mark. Now Graham Sharp there was a player who just turned up for his pay cheque - did he explain that in his book.
  11. They will put two men on him which will leave space for Jose Baxter Baby. He will still batter them and the premiership defenders will either capitulate like Coates or fall in a heap clutching imagined injuries like Skrtel. Tippy tappy football is making defenders soft.
  12. There is more to this than meets the eye! A fit experienced 36 year old of some quality who wants to take a managerial post this summer. This is a good move and gives PD support and something to think about. Welcome Paul!
  13. Yes the 4 3 1 2 worked well. I suppose it is what they would call a diamond and we have the players to do it. I'm not sure I like giving up on out and out wing play but it worked.
  14. Ah well PD is going to scrape through probably to the end of the season if he can get these lads who like him so much to put in half the effort they did yesterday in a league game. I take nothing away from yesterday but I want my tomorrow to be good as well. Looks to me like he has to get some wins before the Everton game.
  15. Has to be done. This exceptional performance demonstrates how bad and disorganised we have been in the league. It is a good time to part company. Sorry but it is still Dickov out!
  16. There will be at least five televised games out of eight and we have produced some great television so I'm sure they will want do it again. We need the small allocation in RRE as that stopped Liverpool fans from taking over - the early goal helped no doubt.
  17. And Simpson played up alongside him just the support his raw talent needs - 4 3 1 2 where did PD get that from?
  18. Sadly for him the cup success might have given Corney the money he needs to make a change and pay for a couple of loan players. The time is right for us and two FA cup wins will look good on his CV. A shame but it makes the league 1 performance look worse because we know what this group of players are capable of.
  19. 9/4 stikes me as good odds! It rather looks like there are 7 teams scraping for three places to avoid relegation. Hartlepool look dead and buried but it is not beyond any team to go on a good run. There are circumstances in which Pompey will not get the 10 points deduction. This is in our own hands we just have to beat Portsmouth, Hartlepool, Shrewsbury, Colchester and Bury - that's why I think the odds are so good!!!
  20. Corney is between a rock and a hard place. He has the 'investment' by Blitz and Gazal, who own the ground, to look after, a football club with falling income and the fair play rules to deal with. There have been reports on here of interest in the club but once you factor in the repayment of the Blitz and Gazal debt the interest evaporates. Our problem is a lack of income and a manager who is failing - it is a downward spiral. Corney told us how it would be - we need the new stand to improve attendance and boost income so there is more money for the players wages. Times are going to be hard. He has given us Baxter when we all thought he would leave and what does PD do moan that he wants more players. If he could use the ones he has we would not be looking over our shoulders. Let us hope there is a break clause in the contract, so PD can be jettisoned if we do go down. I just don't think there is the money to sack him and employ someone else. Might be an idea to send him on gardening leave and have a go yourself Simon!
  21. Money, money, money - he ain't got no money! No money to sack him. No money for players. Or is it the sack on the 28th with a new man lined up and ready to come in and grab a couple of players before the window closes. Lets hope it is the latter or down, down, down we go!
  22. Only concern is that he might put Taylor on wing. We need him up front. Taylor, Smith and Baxter to score!!!!!!!!!
