  1. You are just jealous! He has tuned them into playoff contenders.
  2. It is fair to say that a good proportion of us have thought the squad is good enough to at least stay up. The problem is the coaching and the tactics. The real problem however is that in order to sack PD SC has to find some money. I can't see the owners taking the loss that a change of ownership would require nor are they going to give SC any more money. They might have decided that the land is worth more than the football club and that this is the only way they can get their money back which would mean goodbye to Boundary Park. I would like to think, I do think, Simon is battling to avoid this but where is the money going to come from? The problem is not Simon it is the lack of money. They new stand might be on hold because it will make it impossible to knock down the ground.
  3. Bit harsh! Who was it who got us the Liverpool game?
  4. I’m sick and tired of the idea that effort alone will be rewarded. I believe the team often leaves its sharpness on the training ground because the players who work the hardest are the ones that get picked. The coaching seems to make things worse rather than better. You can’t replace character and ability with hard work. I also worry about Dickov because I believe he is a stubborn man and I don’t therefore buy into the idea of providing him with a mentor/older more experienced 2nd. I also agree that he is not good at man management - being a nice bloke has got nothing to do with it. I do believe he will be here at the end of the season and think we must go on supporting the team as unless we do we will have helped them fail. I suspect we will be relegated but there is just a chance that we will stay up with less than 46 points. I see the Liverpool game as crucial because a decent showing could help us to battle on but the more likely thrashing, worse than the 5 1 at Anfield, will leave this group utterly defeated.
  5. Sorry to go on but can we not have another drab colour. What I really want is the right colour blue so I have voted for white as it stands out and the home kit could be the colours reversed.
  6. 7 from 17, 7 from 16, 7 from 15, 7 from 14, 7 from 13, 7 from 12, 7 from 11, 7 from 10, 7 from 9, 7 from 8, 7 from 7, 7 from ............
  7. Play the only attacking partnership we have because it looks like it could work! Play Sutherland on the right wing instead of someone else out of position! Put Baxter where he can control our game! Can't see it as it would require common sense!
  8. From the match report it would appear that we could have won the game with 4 or 5 goals but I'm sure prozac is right. Having not beaten a team in the top twelve all season is anyone surprised that we lost? Is anyone surprised that Wabara is playing to keep himself fit for his next move? Does anyone doubt that he will put himself about against Liverpool because he wants to show how good he can be? Does it surprise anyone that Mellor played badly for his first start when played out of position? Why do people keep blaming Grounds when Wabara fails to stop crosses? Our problem until 8 December, the last league 1 win, was lack of goals. Our problem since 8 December is both lack of goals and a defence which ships two or more goals per game. As the money from Forest and Liverpool isn't being used to strengthen the team (or to sack PD) the result of 1 point from 21 does appear to be relegation.
  9. Interesting how nearly getting a draw has so upset everybody. I didn't expect anything from this game, or the next, but it does hurt to have failed to hold on and it does hurt to have shipped two goals again. Hope lies in those below us but one point from 21 tells its own tale,
  10. Even better we can pick the team and know who it is before the game
  11. So eggs are all in one basket after Liverpool with only Baxter staying. Wabara impresses but he does let a lot of crosses go in, unlike Grounds, who then gets blamed for the goal scored on his post.
  12. Unfortunately in the interests of trying to be fair the policy on ticket sales has backfired. Should have offered 2 tickets per season ticket. Then the Brentford voucher which would hopefully have left a few for open sale. As it is there will be Liverpool supporters mixed with us and that can only be bad. How could one stand in our part of the RRE and not celebrate if Liverpool score. They can't please us all the time but there does seem to be a lack of common sense from top to bottom. On second thoughts I'll exclude the ground staff who have provided the sort of pitch that would suit the style in which we should and rarely do play.
  13. You can't blame the number conceded on Bouzanis and until you can his distribution puts him in front of Cisak. Mellor has weight so why not put him where he wants to be in midfield and ask him to sit in front of the back four - another alternative would be to put Tarky there. The only tactic we need is to give the ball to Baxter.
  14. I agree with the assessment and would like to see Mellor have a go but I would also have substituted Taylor for Croft early in the second with M'Changama going wide, and taking the corners, and Baxter falling back a little. We needed pace and not the ever recumbent Simpson up front. I would not have gone three at the back at any time because goal difference could in the end keep us up.
  15. With respect might I suggest that the main problem is that the players don't identify with the club. The majority have contracts which end at the end of the season so if we go down they won't be going with us. They were able to lift themselves for the Forest game and will probably do so against Liverpool but in the league they just let themselves be pushed around by stronger and better organised teams. Montano and Taylor were signs that there is a long term strategy but if we bin the Academy then each year it will be pick and mix from the lower paid professional footballers. I don't understand why Baxter signed unless it was more money than should be paid to one player. With this manager this squad is just not good enough. I just hope there are four who are even worse. We do appear to have lost a lot of goals from crosses from our left so is it Wabara or Grounds who is at fault?
  16. Smith needs a partner and that isn't Baxter nor should it be Simpson. Try the man who is not ready but scored - Dan Taylor for me. We were 1 0 down and the substitutions made certain that we would not win. I would have put Taylor on for Croft with M'Changama taking over on the wing and Baxter dropping back a little (yes I know he didn't make a tackle after he was booked but the change might have persuaded him to get going again). Baxter is a wonderful signing but does this mean there is no more money. If we have to watch what we have for the rest of the season Baxter will find himself playing in league 2. Simpson had a wonderful spell at Forest but yesterday he was just a fall guy.
  17. I couldn't understand why M'Changama didn't take the corners as he can whip the ball in. I understand why you could see the game as a nearly one but again changes could have been made to improve things rather than make them worse. Croft is not going to lose weight now but I suspect they are told not to lose the ball so they end up taking no chances. Up and at them I say!
  18. Well I've now got two Brentford tickets and persuaded my daughter and her boy friend to watch the game this afternoon - not really fair for a birthday present! They cost me £25 because we only had one £5 bring a friend voucher, must have given the other one to the shop as a discount on a shirt! I should really have either bought a child season ticket for my seven year old Anya (chocolate labrador) and then used the voucher to buy a Brentford ticket saving £5 or bought a concession ticket for my 84 year old mum for todays game, no harm would be done as she lives down South and couldn't attend.
  19. Once again this discussion is misleading. The fixed compensation is so much per year and then so much more based on the number of first team performances. A 16 year old who started with us at age 10 who is taken by United and plays 100 first team games will net us £1,356,000. If there are no 1st team performances the player will either drop out of football or be available to lower league teams. It seems therefore that a decision to bin the youth has been taken and we are given selective information so that the idea receives support. The Premier league are saying we subsidise this and we want fair value for our money. Any club that doesn't have a youth set up is distancing itself from the local community and will in the end pay for it.
  20. It is not impossible to keep him. Latics can now offer him more money per week. If he worries about getting injured then he will never be the player he can be. Playing against Liverpool is an opportunity he would be daft to miss especially as with him we have an even better chance to beat them.
  21. Its all habitual learned response of finding something wrong like those shouting when we held Forest to 1 0 at half time. I was despondently quiet and hoped beyond hope and yes those seven minutes came. Lets get behind the team, the manager and the club.
  22. Just remember those seven minutes! We can make them quiet and walk on together into the next round. Club has got it spot on and the police can hold them in the ground with their misery while we joyfully go home!
  23. With it being on the telly we are lucky to get the small part of RRE. Can't see every seat being filled but club will coin it and Jose would be daft not to stay until that Sunday - still time to leave after or come with the rest of us into the next round. Give us those seven minutes again and we can be there1
  24. Simon Corney is going to do the best for the club which means filling the ground. He will have a good idea after the Brentford game how many tickets can be sold to home support. If Liverpool fans can be restricted to the small part of RRE because we will fill the rest I can't see the police having a problem with that because it cuts down the number of away, where any potential problem is, supporters. There are going to be some Liverpool supporters mixed in with Oldham fans but there is nothing we can do about that other than to throw them out if they don't keep quiet. I'm a season ticket holder and would very much like two tickets for my voucher but if, as I don't expect, the gate at the Brentford game is up by 000's then I'm happy to accept just one.
  25. I just wonder if we can fill the ground at home should Liverpool only get the small section of RRE. Letting Liverpool have the Chaddy end sort of hurts but it is a rather neat solution.
