  1. I wouldnt be at all suprised if Hughes struggled to get a deal anywhere next season, he is only going to be a squad player in the championship if he stays with Blackpool. And their new manager when appointed may not fancy him. His attitude is a big problem.
  2. Not so sure Brentford will get Clarke, they have Mcdonald to come back from injury, who was scoring before he got injured. They replaced him with Andy Rhodes son from Ipswich and then Clarke when he got injured. Think we might have as much chance as signing Clarke as anyone given that Penney gave him a chance early in the season at Darlo. He was obviously looking to pair him up with Abbott, not sure if that ever happened due too Abbott's injury could be an interesting combo though if it came off.
  3. His whole demeanour looks to me like he will command respect from the players, and he looks very confident and handled the questions about TommyWright very well which must have been difficult. Not sure about the players from Darlo dont know enough about them but Abbott might be worth a shot he started scoring when he got fit, the lad Kennedy is highly rated by some on here strangely Darlo fans arnt as impressed but I suppose we will see. I think all things considered we have ourselves a good manager who knows how to build a side capable of gaining promotion on a budget, be interesting to see the retained list now.And who he brings in, I expect massive changes .
  4. With the TTA saying an appointment will be made in the 7 -10 days it rules out anyone who is in the play offs, for me the choice has to be Jim Gannon he has all the qualaties required to manage us.
  5. It would not suprise me if the Trannies scraped in one team normally comes out of the blue so too speak. But whoever gets in has only got there because we imploded cant see anybody beating Ledds in the play offs though. The Scunny Tranny game will be a right battle expect to see a few red cards in that one cant wait for Ronnies comments on that game.
  6. I was thinking this myself hope its not a bad sign,Simon Corney has been very quite since Joe was appointed maybe he has been working on the budgets for next year already.I really dont think the budget will be much different than this years in the overall scheme of things. Given there are a number of clubs a lot worse of than us. And we will have shed most of the high earners by next season. It must be a nightmare to figure out though at the moment with all the possibilities, who is going and staying on the playing side as well as the staff side. I just hope we can give Joe enough that he thinks he can work with, the fact we are looking for defenders is possibly a good sign fingers crossed.
  7. How about bringing Shezz back for his use of the loan market ?
  8. I think most of the names mentioned bar a couple are out of contract anyway, most would probably have gone if we had been promoted anyway.
  9. Maybe we will get them both with Ritchie eventually taking over from Joe when he hass had enough.Speculation apart though there is a lot to sort out before next season starts I think the only two people who can feel safe about their positions at the moment are Philliskirk, and a handfull of players and Chaddy the Owl. Tommy Wright might be out of contract at the end of the season not sure I suppose it depnds if Joe wants him or not,Dux might be kept on to take the reserve side. Ultimately it will all depend on if Joe stays and who or what he wants .
  10. The keep list the rest can go,we need a lot of players. GK Fleming,Supple IF WE CAN SIGN HIM DEFENDERS Eardley,Gregan IF HE ACCEPTS A REDUCED 1 YEAR DEAL, Hazell although would not be suprised to see him go wont play as much next season,Maybe do a swap for McCardle at Rochdale Midfielders Lee/Whitaker,Westlake,Stephens, Forwards Taylor,Alessandra,Smalley, Smalley and Alessandra next season will be used for back up but will still play a fair number of games. I think Brooke and Eave will eventually push them. Jones might be signed now wolves have gone up, to me this close season might see more comings and goings than we have seen in a long time we need a lot of players and a lot are going.Of the teanm that started against Brighton can only see 5 maybe 6 being in the squad next season
  11. Interesting a lot of people keep saying "with more service he would have scored more" I think the fact is the other players were sick of him and stopped providing as many chances for him. Think we are better of rid lets see who Joe brings in.
  12. We dont want Cotterill his brand of football is very much like Warnocks, and Moores think we have all had enough of that. Has to be Joe for me, which to be honest is looking more likely.
  13. Yeah I think you are right about the Mark Robins goal the old gey matter is not what was. Robert
  14. I wouldnt call it banter, more like young moronic idiots with no repect. Bet Joe was well impressed, I am no manure fan but think you should respect the most succesful manager in British Football if your a footbal fan. Mind you, you could say he owes us if not for Hughes goal at wembley pretty sure he would have been sacked shortly afterwards.
  15. Nail ont head there lad, if we were in a bar I would buy you a beer. I actually believe Joe will stay and we will see some investment from the outside. Once Joe is confirmed for next year, gotta believe he wants it again now. Robert
  16. Look how long Darren Ferguson's been in the job, he has instilled a great team ethic into Peterborough very, very evident if you see a clip of the last goal against Leicester on Saturday were nearly every player joined in the goal celebration. We dont seem to have had that togetherness attitude for quite a while despite various team building attempts by Shezz, I am sure this is one area Joe is trying to sort out. Hate to say this but during this season there has looked like divisions in the camp, that needs sorting out for sure. Another side with a similar ethic to posh is Scunthorpe as much as we appear to detest each other Adkins, has has done a great job and keeps unearthing goalscorers from nowhere he has worked out the formula for getting out of this division it would appear. They aint nothin fancy, but very solid but work hard for 90mins and have a goalscorer who also contributes to the team ethic. For me we need to work on bringing in players that will make us more solid at the back and in midfield,we need to be capable of going away and grinding out draws or holding onto slender leads which we have never looked capable of doing this year. I hope Joe tries to sign Alan Lee or a similar player during the close season if he stays, and shores up the defence along with some yardies in midfield. I can see a big clearout during the summer it is probably the only way forward whoever is in charge.
  17. Very emotive sibject this but given these facts Lee Hughes wasnt going to sign a new contract withus No one wanted him in the Jan transfer window let alone pay 400k for him (maybe news travels quick) He was likely to get booked again I suspect with three games to go. On current form we would have been lucky if he scored another 2 goals, but if there was a bonus payable for 20 goals he may have scored 2 more. I would put money on any of the rest of the strikers including the 2 youths Eaves and Brook scoring at least that many before the end of the season. He was obviously uninterested in the team judging by the reaction to being subbed against Cheltenham. Think we should trust Joe's judgement here he would only do what is right for the club and he is probably working on things we will never know.
  18. Hughes was always going to leave and was having us for mugs and the club, he stopped playing for his shirt well before christmas. Funny how he was injured for the fa cup games then was fit right after. Big Joe has rightly called his card.Nexxxxxxxxt
  19. I mentioned Alan Lee when Joe arrived last week but he has just joined Norwich on loan from Palace, which probably rules out Kuqi also at Palace (bloody warnock and his strikers), Not sure about Scowcroft his he still playing? We should have tried to sign Holt when he was available. What about Clarke at Wednesday? or Brown at Preston? or the lad Darlington had on loan from Ipswich Billy Clarke.
  20. I think and hope that there is every chance that Joe will stay, there are one or two hints that he will in some of the things he is saying, and the type of players he has brought in so far. One such factor could be that he is about to become a grandad very soon, now I dont think he is going to want to take a job miles away when he can have this one on the doorstep to his grandchild. Of course there are very good football reasons for him wanting to stay as well, a team playing well under Joe Royle is going to attract more fans to BP than any other manager. And Like Eddie alluded to his credentials are impeccable.
  21. Evans or sturridge would do nicely from city, cant help feeling we need someone a bit bigger though. Lets hope Joe can find another Frankie Bunn fron somewhere.
