  1. It's basically either laziness or thoughtless not throwing the ball directly to feet or passing the ball to a team mate's "wrong" foot when under no pressure. It slows the game unnecessarily.
  2. That's the theory but we're not good at it. Good teams also play on the front foot and show some urgency most of the time not traipse about as if they're on holiday. I'm not overly concerned when we slow the game when leading but we just seem a bit lethargic at times. When we've scored I'd prefer us to push on for a second or third which is a much more effective way of "seeing the game out".
  3. The thing that really annoys me is the time taken over throw ins, goal kicks and corners. Hudson was warned a couple of times on Saturday yet still moved the ball whilst taking a goal kick prompting the inevitable pointless booking and six minutes added on. The lackadaisical body language of our players who saunter around the pitch when the ball is out of play must influence the refs when deciding the amount of time added on, and as such is counter productive. It also subdues the crowd to some extent when they see players strolling about showing a lack of urgency. Just look as if you're on the front foot and we may not be playing after five on a Saturday afternoon.
  4. Could it be temporary due to Frank's Atlantic escapade ?
  5. Looked decent in his two cameos against us but the fact he's played about ten games in the last three years would temper my enthusiasm. Monitor him for the rest of the season and then decide.
  6. Mancini's been out for a long time so it's doubtful he'll start tomorrow and Dieseruvwe is out for another month.
  7. No, @BP1960 stated Gardner needs bringing into midfield which you responded to, but we all know it's not just as simple of writing his name on the team sheet. His delicate nature dictates the number of starts he can make, although I would agree we need our more creative players for home matches to unlock defences.
  8. Don't know if you're being obtuse here Monty but the point I was trying to make was it's just not a case of picking Gardner, he also needs to be fit for selection.
  9. The problem is Gardner's fitness. Most on here agree he's our most creative midfielder though that's not a high bar. We desperately need continuity in selections which means a new body through the door, as managing his fitness must be a nightmare for all concerned.
  10. Exactly right. Everyone has at least thought something similar the really stupid thing is posting it on social media. It's almost as if some footballers are bordering on simple, like they know the rules but choose to ignore them.* * # kickingtheballawayandtakingyourshirtoff
  11. Start with the Tory government, wars and murderers and then move on to footballers. Get your priorities right !
  12. Bloke behind me was shouting at the team to press when Gateshead were pissing about with the ball from dead balls. With a 33 year old striker, McGahey and Lundstrum (carrying an injury) in midfield and Sutton and Kitching as wing backs pressing as a team is a non-starter.
  13. When the start making runs as the ball is being played instead of grappling with their markers. And for god's sake someone get across the near post !!
  14. The council are, however, involved in this scheme by way of providing funds for the pitch re-furb and the ground sharing with the Roughyeads. As I understand it the pitch upgrade would not have happened without Council assistance.
  15. Only do the Euro when it's mega big to donate it to OAFC.
  16. Their goalie is an absolute liability when pressed so we should be on his case from the outset.
  17. He's showed bits of skill sporadically but seems to lack the desire to be a professional footballer. He just goes through the motions in my opinion ( bit like I used to ! ).
