  1. Ossie Ardiles for me at BP in the FA Cup tie on the old plastic pitch. Ball was pretty much glued to his foot for 90 mins! Away from home agree with some others Andrei Kanchelskis at Maine Road in the FA Cup semi reply....tore us apart that night
  2. Wonder if another World Cup winner will ever grace Boundary Park! In fact wonder if any sort of bloody winner will? RIP a true gent.
  3. If he is which by reports looks likely, he will get my full support as we need to get back up at the first go. Prove me wrong Richie!!
  4. Agree with Harry. My view hasn't changed. We should easily have had enough quality to stay up, and Wellens not being able to motivate the players, particularly over the last 8 games to get a single win shows he unfortunately isn't the man I'm afraid. Another experienced assistant would make no difference imo. Wellens is stubborn and gets me as the type that its his way or the highway so do you think he would listen? Why risk keeping him? I'd rather get someone in with a L1/2 track record who is a better tactician and motivator.
  5. Would love to think so yes.... Just unsure as to what funds he actually has. Hopefully he will show us the money if he has it!
  6. Don't disagree but not gonna happen due to cost. I'd rather spend any money on building a squad capable of getting us back up, and improving our training facilities. Dales cost £500k. We can re-lay the pitch the year after from the money we get from winning the JPT and a good FA Cup run!!
  7. Did anyone realise the dick who threw the flairs on the pitch when we scored our first goal was the reason why 4 mins were added on....and they scored. We dont fucking help ourselves sometimes...
  8. RIt was crystal clear since we somehow won against Blackpool that Wellens had lost the plot. Fucking zero wins since then says it all. Who knows if sacking him then would have made any difference? What I do know it couldnt have been any worse. Can't believe I'll be watching us at Mac next season.... Gutted isn't even half of it.
  9. I should change the name of the thread to "1 win...where will it come from?" Answer - Saturday Northanpton - job done. COTB and KTF!!
  10. Anyone got the inside track on how Gerrards doing?.... And not the Stevie one!! ?
  11. Love the fact that our future "modern day coach" will have been watching our games on "tape" ? made me chuckle mate!
  12. I'd rather have Fane in the squad for Saturday than not. Not everyone's cup of tea I know but useful to have on the bench at least.
  13. So we can safely say Gerrard is out then! Cheers. Tough call Nepo or Momimbe....dont think we can play both though
  14. I'ts a fair point. Just not sure Wellens actually knows his own ideal team formation!!
  15. Yep agree with this...unless Gerrard fit. If fit in a game like this he plays.
  16. I had no issue. Printed tickets off at home. I am down south though...
  17. Problem for us exiles is we can't get to BP to buy them if they do. So home end is the only choice. Would think they won't be available online which is frustrating but fair enough I guess.
  18. Yep. Come in the lower east stand left hand side... Plenty of tickets left if your quick.
  19. So we've somehow made it to the last day, of what has been a mostly woeful season, with our fate still in our own (well Wellens') hands. My first Latics game was 40 years ago...the Anglo Scotish Cup final V Burnley in 1978...which we lost 4-0 of course....yet somehow Latics had me hooked! Since that day I have never seen my club play in the 4th tier of English football. I've seen us get smashed 3-0 at home to Orient on a freezing Feb nights in front of barely 2000 supporters, and been lucky enough to be around during the pinch me years, watching that unbelievable bunch of players destroy most things in front of them. And nothing will ever compare to seeing "that" penalty kick go in! However, I feel next Saturdays game is probably more important than anything in the previous 40 years, in respect to the future of our club. Some say going down may do us good? Nothing could be further from the truth in my opinion. Yes, occasionally it does re-galvanize a club and they prosper, but rarely a club of our status. Those that do OK and bounce back successfully usually have a very rich benefactor, a rich history, or a sparkly new stadium...none of which we are lucky enough to possess. I don't need to quote examples of clubs similar to ours in fan base, and stature, who once relegated to the 4th tier simply carried on falling. Just look at the National League clubs and below and it's self explanatory. We can only hope we somehow manage to win our first away game for some time next week, and start again from scratch next year. I do believe we have the foundation of a team that can challenge in league one next season with some smart additions and more importantly an experienced manager. I've made no secret over the last 3 months of my views on Wellens not being up to the task and unfortunately the proof is in the pudding. However he and the team will have my full support at Northampton (from the home stand!) and hope we can somehow maintain our League 1 status. We have some of the most amazing and passionate fans in the game - mates who support other clubs, and who have attended games with me over the years cannot believe the numbers who travel, and we deserve better than League 2 football and possibly worse to follow. Lets not fuck this up next weekend. KTF, Londonboy.
  20. Just bought mine...West Stand lower left...not risking waiting for more to be released
