Mr Bates, The next few months is your crossroads in the chairmanship of our club. What are you going to do? Are you going to sell Beckford, Delph etc and try to splutter out of League 1. Or Buy the players Simon Grayson wants and then piss this league???????? ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- On and on.
singe
Whilst not one a Any-other-team-is-scum supporter, I am sure plenty are like us were resigned to the fact Leeds would balls it up. you cannot help but laugh at it. SO many of them really think they deserve not to be in this League. It does go to show theough, you need a team, not a set of good players. We have to remeber that when DP signs a group of unknowns. Yep, look how long it took big-spending Wigan and Bristol City to get out of this League. Then look at teams that have gained promotion over the last 13 years Watford - hard working team Bristol City - The pace of Goodridge, Roberts and Akinbiyi got them up Fulham - ok, they threw money at ot and it worked BIG TIME! Walsall - Another unfancied team Preston - Great footballing team, built round Macken and Gregan Burnley - From relegation fodder to promotion without much money changing hands Millwall - again young hungry side with kids like Harris and Cahill Rotherham - Big strong side, no real stars - I mean Warney and Rob Scott and Branston FFS! Brighton - Good strong side, promoted on the back of Zamora's goals Reading - yeah they threw money at it after consolidating in their new ground Wigan - The big bucks finally paid off, but it took them 6 seasons of throwing millions at it. Crewe - Kept their Championship team together and two outstanding kids scored :censored:loads - Hulse and Ashton Plymouth - Another big strong team, no outstanding players but difficult to beat QPR - Hard working team, no real big names daft as a brush manager Luton - Relegation fodder the year before yet walked the league, a team built round Chris Coyne and Steve Howard Southend - Relied on the goals of Eastwood but again a potless club with a team ethic walks the league Colchester - Ditto Scunny - Pull rabbits out of hats year on year re: Strikers it finally paid off. As we saw that year they were nothing special Brizzle - Spent a bit of money but kept the nucleus of their team for 3 or 4 years. It finally clicked with the right additions Swansea - Spent a fair whack to add to the quality they had, Scotland and Bodde absolute steals and the extra quality they needed to piss the league Forest - Gambled on paying high wages and big tranfer fees, it took them three years but again took the nucleus of the team that had been relegated back up with them. Leicester - Gambled by paying high loan wages and keeping their Championship squad Peterborough - In monetary terms probably the richest club in the league last season and a chaorman not afraid to shell out for the Right Player rather than throwing money at it. Paid off for them big time. Also during this time we have seen Grimsby Town City Gillingham Walsall Stoke Cardiff Brighton Sheff Wed Barnsley Blackpool Doncaster All gained promotion through the Play Offs, but by then it is a lottery so i'd prefer to highlight the teams that deserve promotion over 46 games. Very good summary as ever prozac. Intereting how many have kicked on and how many have gone up and then back down further. We won;t have the money so our benchmark has to be the either solid or round a good strike pairing, it can be done so: Watford, Bristol City, Walsall ,Preston, Burnley, Millwall, Rotherham, Brighton, Crewe, Plymouth, Luton, Southend , Colchester, Scunny
Horlicks
Leeds will also start next season with a 6 point disadvantage as they have to play Latics twice!!!! When they scored they thought they would walk it and their faces when Millwall scored was comedy gold.
pukka
Money wont guarentee them success next year, but it will get them a place in the top 6. Next season is IMO the most open league since we went down into it. But we are now playing for one of 5 places rather than 6 in the top 6. To early to say how open and closed the league is its not like the premiership where the top 4 is a closed shop anything can happen and often does. The sides coming down will be a threat but how much of a threat remains to be seen don't be surprised to see atleast one of them struggle to get to grips with this league and Southampton could start the season on -10. Leave by a non-CVA route, which is entirely likely (I'm presuming that after football debts, HMRC are the major creditor), and they'll be struggling to avoid being relegated (with being on -27 points and all). OldhamSheridan
Don't know the ins and outs of this but seriously is it that bad? I thought it would be only -10 To leave by a CVA they must have an agreement with over 75% of those who are creditors. Generally this wouldn't be a problem. But, they are required to pay all football debts in full or they will be refused their golden share by the Football League. Once you remove these football debts HMRC are generally one of the largest creditors. They are however, unsurprisingly, unwilling to play second fiddle to football debts, and won't agree anything with football clubs now, other than pretty much 100% - which makes it nigh on impossible to go out of administration by a CVA. Therefore -17 points all round (on top of the -10 in alot of cases).
