So why did they have over 1,100 empyty seats? Why was their "massive" following only 3,478? This isn't a dig a Wednesday ... just a real pissed off with the so called "experts" of Football League coverage. Yes, Sheffield Wednesday's a bigger club than Oldham and they had lots of away fans compared to most teams at this level. But to make up bollocks about them selling out, what's that about? There are thousands of people who are out of work who would be capable of taking 10 seconds to look on the club website and see what the attendance actually was,rather than looking at the pictures and guessing. A few weeks ago they said there was 4000 people at the rally in Liverpool in support of the strike, which is interesting given that it was at St George's plateau (which holds 10000 people) and people were standing in the surrounding roads because there was no space. So, a crowd of people that have visibly failed to fill a 4500-seater stand = 4000 people. A crowd that is too big for a space that holds 10000 people = 4000 people. Work that one out. Going back to the original topic of Steve Claridge being a tosser, people have commented on here before that he does seem to have a bit of a grudge against us, or more specifically Paul Dickov. Aw look at the little football league fans and their little clubs. On top of that you have a wooden presenter who is clearly there to show the BBC is doing their bit for equal rights and 3rd rate pundits who have to comment on games, clubs etc that they know nothing about. I know there is too many games to cover them all in detail but how about getting rid of Manish, Claridge, that camp man who travels around all the clubs and show us more of the games, key incidents, build up to the goals!! Nor does it need some dolly bird reading "Wee Iz gonna win da league" emails from morons who mail in to shows like this. The old Endsleigh League show had it right, just a voiceover whilst showing the goals/ talking points then show the league table at the end of that league's goals. Couldn't be simpler. Those who have played the game at a high level are there to tell us the distinction between a precise long pass and an opportunistic hoof-ball - apparently it all depends on which team does it. I fast forwarded all punditry, interviews and frippery and just watched the football. It was ok but I doubt if I will go back to religiously watching MOTD again. I think football in general has gone down in terms of presenting etc. I use to love the old Granada soccer night presenters Elton Welsby and Robert McCaffrey coverage use to be in deph. However ITV to me seem only interested in The Champions League, England games and the latter stages off the FA cup. I saw Granada reports the other week and thught how bad the reports where off lower legues clubs. Fact they seemed interested in only showing one goal from a game. Not watched the football League show for ages however in the age of digital TV is it really hard for them maybe give each league its own show. We can watch it online or on BBC 3 OR 4 later on the week. People slate channel 5 but i actually enjoy watching games on there and reckon they do a far job than BBC do. Macca Posted December 12, 2011 Share Posted December 12, 2011 To be fair to the football league show and it's presenters and pundits there can be upto 36 different games and 72 clubs to cover in an hour and only a few hours to get something sorted. MOTD has fewer games to analyse so you would expect their coverage to be much better. Claridge loves the better reputation sides though, probably knows move to talk about with them.
