I wore my black Latics shirt to play 5-a-side tonight. Now, I'm not proposing a debate as to whether said wearing of shirt should be criminalised, but it got me thinking about our new('ish) badge. I think the black shirt is one of the best we've had in a pretty bad run over the past five years or so but I dislike that badge more every time I look at it. I particularly hate the font used; it looks very amateur.

What with the furore around the new Everton badge, which it sounds like they will be replacing at the first given opportunity, not to mention Cardiff's disregard for their fans with their kit, I'm wondering how strongly people feel about our badge, now that the dust has settled and whether people would like to see it replaced.

Much prefer the badge we have had on all home kits for the last 20 odd years, I know colours have changed now and again but I believe we should have tried to stick to that. Tradition and all that

Lots of clubs are changing their image, stadiums, badges etc. Sometimes tradition is not a bad thing. Some things should never change IMO

I'm fifty fifty on liking the new badge but, good Christ, fans shouldn't be consulted. It'd be a crudely Photoshopped owl with Andy Ritchie's head, more lens flare than you can shake a stick at, and KEEP THE FAITH in glittery Comic Sans.

Could work...

If you look at our history, we've had quite a number of crest's over time. The badge we had from the mid eighties until 2 seasons ago is the one that I grew up with, so naturally I'm most fond of that one, however I've no problem any longer with it having changed. We're still OAFC - something that Simon Corney should be thanked for - and that's enough for me. Keep the faith.

i don't mind it but the designers have clearly got their colours wrong

the computer generated badge gives the impression that the blue fades from royal blue to a light blue

they have been unable to recreate this in the real fabric and we therefore have a badge with navy/black ridges and light blue top

just doesn't look right

why it couldn't just be the dark royal blue colour as is our new kit i do not know, would've looked ok then.

I really liked the old diamond shaped badge in it's various guises and didn't see the need to change it. I don't like the current one at all. It looks like something a child has conjured up. I'd be happy for the fans to be consulted on a new badge but there's a potential problem with that; how many designs do you offer? The bigger the choice, the more divided the opinion. If it were simply a choice of the current one or revert to the old one, then you'd get a true reflection of what the fans want.

I was pretty vocal about it when it changed, and my opinion of it hasn't improved over the years. It was a total waste of money to change, and that is the same reason I don't think we can change back.

I said at the time I wouldn't buy any shirts with it on, and I haven't. A bit petty I know, but I felt so strongly about it.

Was thinking of breaking that promise this year until I saw the new home shirt. I will reserve my judgement until I have seen us play in it, but from the pics I have seen - not a fan.

On many things I would agree that fans shouldn't be consulted but for a badge, like with kits, the club are expecting the fans to buy merchandise of which the badge is probably the most important feature. If you get it wrong, there may be commercial repercussions.

Really hated the badge when it was released & think it sadly looks amateur. I'm a graphic designer specialising in branding & whilst I actually really like what they did on everton's crest I think ours just looks awful! It's too reactionary to current trends & won't have any longevity...redesign please!
