Brewpubs

http://www.europeanbeerguide.net/franpubs.htm

Of these we visited:

Zu den Zwoelf Apostel, Rosenbergerstraße 1 produces organically-brewed light and dark beers; the ground-floor restaurant serves Balkan cuisine.

Klosterhof, Weißfrauenstraße 3 Doctor Flotte, Gräfstraße 87 This is used as the meeting place for Latics fans when being entertained by the Bockenheimer Branch of the Eintracht Supporters.

Across the river in Sachsenhausen are:

Dauth Schneider, Neuer Wall 5-7
Down a cobblestoned street, in the cellar of a 150 year old tavern, apple wine (Apfelwein) is still pressed each autumn and the fruity concoction is served in traditional style with heaping platters of sausages, fried potatoes, sauerkraut and homemade specialties such as beef broth with liver dumplings, pickled pork, or meatloaf. An excellent selection of regional and national beers is available as well. Come ready to take your place at one of the long tables to drink and sing along with the locals.

Klapper33, Klappergasse 33 is the pub used by Eintracht fans – click on the site for a free beer!

G-Block, Kleine Rittergasse 10 is also an Eintracht fans’ sports bar.

The K17 bar is associated with the other club, FSV Frankfurt.

In the railway station you’ll find two sport-focused venues: downstairs modest Zapfhahn, with its regular following and classic photo of Eintracht’s 1959 title-winning team; and, at street level, the contemporary café Uddin’s (‘Café, Bistro, Sportsbar’).

For local flavour, don’t miss the lovely, lived-in Zum Tannenbaum, reasonably nearby at Homburger Straße 19, with its table football and flashes of Eintracht colours.

At Große Rittergasse 77, Zum Stern is said to be hands-down, best bar in Frankfurt, a football-obsessed rockers’ dive where Eintracht and Elvis iconography intermingle.

Stadion train station bar, before walking down the forest road to the Commerzbank-Arena, has Latics shirt and pennant on the wall.

Eintracht Frankfurt Club Shop, Mörfelder Landstraße 362 is near the Klosterhof pub/restaurant.

The game had everything! Early unexpected goal, disallowed second. Missed penalty, sending off. And that atmosphere...

Also, it was 38 degrees, and just a little uncomfortable.

What a great city this is, and Frankfurt fans are brilliant people!

On an Eredivsie weekender, doing SBV Execlsior and PSV Eindhoven home games. Got asked to take a photo at PSV.. "Where you from".. "Near Manchester".. "Where abouts".. "Mossley".. Turned out to be an ex-season ticket holder at Latics. Small world.

Won away at Hamburg on Friday night. Bundesliga Highlights on ITV4 at 23:40 tonight.

Went over for that one - got showered with beer three times in a convincing victory.

Also went on a brilliant tour of FC St Pauli's stadium and took loads of pictures.

Was at Hertha v Cologne lasts Saturday. We were in the block next to the Hertha ultras and the atmosphere in the 60,000 crowd was fantastic. Cologne travelled in numbers too. Sat with a beer in the ground drinking bottles and glass pints around the Olympic park and outside the station and absolutely no bother. I'm sure there can be lively moments between fans but all were mixing well and not an ounce of trouble perhaps if you treat people like adults they behave like adults? Can't wait to book another German trip next year even the wife who isn't a football fan enjoyed the experience and Berlin as a city is awesome.
