deyres42
Hmm, all seems a bit too convenient for my liking. Can't ever recall the local journos reporting on it then all of a sudden the day after MEN bloke is acting as though he knew all along.. Can't ever recall the local journos reporting on it then all of a sudden the day after MEN bloke is acting as though he knew all along.. It's pretty depressing either way. Either we cashed in a clause for a player most Latics fans would have fully expected could go a lot further (career-wise, rather than geography!) than Brentford or the club are lying so no one can question why we've brought in no one to cover the positions Sheridan has said he needs to recruit for. Stevie_J
Taking the emotion out of it, Tarky was out of contract at the end of the season. Shenanigans had to go on for the move to actually happen. He could have got injured at some point. If he'd have moved for nothing in the summer (which would probably have been the case had his mum not been so ill) and it got out that we had the chance to sell the sell on clause the same people would have been up in arms about that. And knows how much we've actually missed out on - it might not be as much as we think. In isolation you could view selling it as what seemed a sensible decision at the time gone wrong but as the latest in a long line of dropped bollocks it looks terrible. He was under contract at Brentford until the end of next season.

rosa
We'd have only spent the money on giving Higdon a contract. I'm glad we pissed the sell on clause up the wall.

NewBlue
The sum would be too large to hide it on the public reports that come out, surely. We don't normally get £500k randomly knocking about... Another indictment of how poorly run the club is, the lack of ambition and how :censored: the football knowledge of those at the top have. Thoroughly depressing. sjk2008
Its not been sold. It has. And I've not heard that just from Latics' end...
Twisbrogan
Its not been sold. Chron also reports that it was cashed in some months ago for around £150k with the money going towards the stand. If they were that desperate for £150k, maybe they should have crowd funded.
leeslover
IF we did sell it for 150k it makes a big difference whether it is 3 or 6 million. If the former then it might not be such bad business given we could have got nothing or waited years.

Seen a few reports putting the fee at 3.5 million upfront, guesswork but assuming we would take our cut from that, 10% seems to be the figure that the local hacks were running with, so 350k maybe. palmer1
i wonder how they feel if they have sold it for 150k only for the FA to fine them the exact same amount for illegal approaches over John Sheridan. Nice of the club to apologise only to completely :censored: things up again the following week! Does anybody actually know their arse from their elbow in that :censored:in club!
