One to see - FA youth cup 12th Jan.

Recommended Posts

The FA youth cup 3rd round tie v Bournemouth has been arranged for Tuesday 15th December, 7pm, at SportsDirect.com Park.

If this is anything like the youth alliance final v MK Dons and the last two FA youth cup matches fans are in for a treat of 100% commitment and fast flowing attacking football.

Along with just wanting to take in a good game and see our youths, this could be a good chance for a positive form of protest.

With (probably) members of the first team and the coaching staff in attendance, lets give the U18s a bumper crowd and loud support to show how much we are willing to get behind an Oldham side who are worthy of it. If this seems like a good idea to anyone, lets get the word out that we want to fill that main stand next Tuesday.

Then watch them get royally dicked 4-0 - no thanks.

Going to go to this. Bournemouth youth any good?

Looks like their youth setup hasn't advanced quite as quickly as their first team. Category 3 status academy, like us. Currently 3rd in the Youth Alliance South West, sat behind Plymouth and Cheltenham, Full table at the bottom of this page.

Winnable then, but the young Latics' form has been poor in the league of late with a rash of injuries. Still conceded only 12 in the league, lowest in the division.

Some of TPs best players are due back, tenacious midfieder Jake Hargreaves and tall striker Brad Kay made a big difference against Morecambe.

Old fashioned 4-4-2, two out and out wingers and some excellent set plays can be expected.

How good are these wingers? Are they tiny like normal?

Even for the youth team, the negativity comments creep in. What have they done to deserve it, apart from play, fast, attacking football?

Nice try, BP1960. for attempting to drum-up something positive regarding the club.

Thanks, from what I've seen a few of these lads could be offered professional contracts, and if they bring to the first team the skill and attitude they have shown in the youths the future looks quite rosy IMO.

I've asked Underdog to ask if the numbers of Youth offered contracts last season is based on a quota or TP's assessment. If it is a quota, then perhaps Playershare look at contributing if more could make the grade.

I wonder if they they play fast flowing football with great set pieces when the pressure is actually on....

like a protest going on at the game that may just breed more negativity

Go and see for yourself is my answer.
