leeslover
So in a game of baffling things: we're desperately chasing the game and we have a free kick in a great place. Firstly it is taken by a centre half who whatever his other attributes is bloody awful on the ball and struggles even to hoof the ball out with any conviction. But there is a cunning training ground routine afoot. It entails Kelly standing offside then doing a barrel roll. I wasn't drunk. Was I dreaming? oafc-latics
I really enjoyed that free kick. Everyone in the ground knew it was going to blast into the wall, but having Gerrard over it meant there was the smallest chance he'd turned into Ronaldo during training and we were going to equalise. NewBlue
All our players lined up to the right of the wall, I'm assuming Gerrard's job was to force the keeper to parry it out into the path of our onrushing mob. Turned out he couldn't even get it beyond the wall. Bit :censored:.

GlossopLatic
I think the idea was that Kelly was trying to block the keepers view. We gave it to Gerrard believein that as his cousin can strike a free kick maybe he can too. It was in the perfect position for Mike Jones but he had a stinker so had to be taken off I bet he saw that abd his heart must have sank. Something else baffled me late in the game we get a free kick we leave 1 back it was James Wilson. If we were going to have a free kick late in the game surely it would have made sense to put a 6 ft 3 centre back in the penalty area especially when Connor Brown is on the pitch. I don't think that is as crazy as it seems. Wilson is quick, which is the first requirement for who stays back, and he can do a fair job of playing the ball back in if it comes our way. Yes but Connor Brown and Holmes dennis could have done that and neither would have a chance of getting on the end of a ball into the box. Wilson scored a couple from set pieces last season

petelatics
Our set pieces and crosses were abysmal. And brings no Croft on in centre midfield? Very odd!
leeslover
I think the idea was Gerrard to blast it and hope fot the best.I was amazed when he got a decent shot away late on, he really struggles to put his foot through the ball to clear danger. Not saying I don't want him in our defence at the moment but not as dead ball specialist.

Croft hasn't got the legs to play out wide anymore, he could make a decent central midfield player if allowed. Curtis Main should relinquish the striker role, he's more effective running with the ball from deep. I'd play him on the left wing in place of the struggling Forte. Jones is also struggling and a replacement on the right is needed, not Winchester either. I will throw in a name no one has mentioned as he's not been in the first team squad, youth team right winger Lee Knight. From what I've seen he's tough enough to manage the physicality of this league, quick and direct. Man United threw in the unknown Ratchford to good effect. It's a gamble, do we continue with an ineffective Jones or give a willing kid a chance? Edited March 21, 2016 by BP1960

leeslover
Lee Knight is a good shout. He was about the only one who looked strong enough to battle against the much bigger Dongs in the final last year. Wouldn't call him quick though.
