I'm convinced if Gerrard had gone out on loan and he remained we'd have been in a lot better state as it may have hastened ALMO's departure. To be fair, Clarke had made a really bad start to the 17/18 season and didn't do much to halt Bury's slide when he went there. Think they finished rock bottom by some distance... Even renewing the loan in Jan would have made no difference to that as he was already registered at Latics for that season. More Wellens bullshit... yarddog73
To be fair Gerrard and Clarke were both poor for periods of that season, Clarke may have gone as plenty of clubs would have been happy to take him on, Gerrard on the other hand we were lumbered with as nobody wanted him and that was for nothing. deyres42
It wasn't a hard decision, Gerrard was playing well as were most of the team at the time.

Ahh, the old four game unbeaten run being extended to 3 months again. . . He decided to keep a fat gobshite over a top pro and better leader, and we paid the price.
