Not sure I agree with this.

No you don't, but it's certainly not in Cloud Cuckoo Land though now is it. Bit of a reality check for us really - his position as severely under scrutiny after the Belle Vue fiasco - he was a dead man walking...

I was for giving him until the end of the season as well, even next season if we got into the play offs. He's the man who's got us up there in the first place but with what has happened in the last few weeks I think it was time for a change.

I hope TTA have got some plans in place, can't afford to be slow getting someone in.

Despite recent results and performances, today is a very sad day for me.

I know there has been a clamour over the last week or so and I had my own say last weekend, but I do have a lot of sympathy and time for the man.

I think this is the right decision for all concerned and at least, as I said last week, it gives the new man 9 games to try to turn things round and try to get us back into the playoffs.

Thanks John for all your efforts. Your time here as a player will not be forgotten especially when you came out of retirement in our hour of need despite your knee condition. Your work with the youngsters has seen several good products progress to the youth team and when you took over, you gave us our club back. It may have soured in recent months, with fans calling for you to go, but hopefully you will draw on the experience of the last 3 years and come back to the game again. I hope you do.

And Finally, I am sure when everyone has had time to reflect and a little water has passed under the bridge, you will be warmly welcomed back at BP on match days to receive the applause that your time with us richly deserves.

Once again, I thank you and good luck.

Cheers,

Harry

Thanks Shez for your 3 seasons as manager and more as a player but it was the right decision and 95% of people seem to agree.

Where this idea of one of the lowest budgets in the league comes from i really don't know. It might be next season considering the crowds have dropped to the 4500 mark but this season never.

That had to be the deciding factor imo.

I did think TTA would have had more bottle (no pun) to stick with him till the final game

Today is tinged with sadness for all the good times Sheridan as seen with us at BP. However his position as increasingly been coming unacceptable and he's allowed the players to go down a route not befitting professionals. You know the saying,,,,,, give an inch and take a mile.

After yesterdays performance this had to be done today or we may as well not bother the remianing 9 games. Shez not only lost the players yesterday ... but more importantly the Oldham fans.

what ?

when all things were pointing in disintigration ?

new ideas and fresh imput are required to save whats been severly damaged over the last fortnight.

have to say i am not suprised he has gone, under the circumstances of the last couple of weeks i think it was inevitable really.

that said i wish him all the luck for the future...i think he has a good time ahead as a coach...

and i would like to thank him for the 10 years service he gave to the club.

sheridan the player will always be a latics legend....end of.

I agree with Senor Coconut, the owners should of at least kept him till the end of the season. He deserves more respect of what he's achieved with us this season and one slip out of the play offs he gets the bullet, madness. Bring back Jimmy Frizzell..

This season has sapped most of the enjoyment I had in football out of me, but we're ONE POINT off the play-offs and at home to the team in 6th place (also a team we've had a great recent record against), should have got the chance to finish the season.

Whilst it's best for the club and first team affairs to say I'm not saddened would be a lie. Shez clearly cared about the club, and in that first season I thought we were unlucky to miss out but thought he'd learn from it. Last season was just down to injuries to big players and this season we started amazingly.

Amongst all that I hope the fans remember that Sheridan has done a lot for the club, he came out of retirement to help us on the pitch. He's took over as manager, brought in some great players and took us to the playoffs as well as setting us up for this season which still isn't over. I hope there is no ill feeling between him and the fans.

Shez is a legend, he just fell short as our manager.

Good luck Shez.

I'd just like to say a BIG THANK YOU to John Sheridan for all his efforts over the years

Like Ritchie he'll always be a Latics Legend regardless of all the bad mouthing he's received on here oflate, A sad day for the club IMO and I hope some of the players take note of this as their own positions will need to be re-cemented & Truth be known some of them should be following shez out the door too

So the Witch hunt has finally ended, now we're off to see the Wizard! cos god knows we're gonna need one
