  1. Mike Fillary ........bugger ...... (learns hot to read OP)
  2. With me being slightly ... lets say meaty ........ Chicken tikka balti with pilau rice an naan. Food I remember football matches ...... Definately not a prozac. In fact I am in awe when people remember the matches even from the late 80s ... I attended all of them home and away ... but very few etch themselves into my memory (cup run and the penalty and the great escape excluded) mind you I only remember most of them due to watching it again on TV after the match.
  3. it was a home match ...... and it eas cheltenham in the FA cup .... I was conviced it was Hereford .... The guy I took had to tell me (his one and only Latics match)
  4. Going back a few years now, but we played Hereford (and lost 0-1) in the league on a very very cold tuesday eve and I was repaying some corperate hospitality by taking a colleague to see the mighty Latics and for a pre match curry at the Indian Ocean near Tesco. As we ordered our food two well dressed gentlemen sat just behing us. They were non stop taking about Oldham and the players, formation, how they would set it up, clubs lack of commercial activity the then chairman and how they would put it right. They talked with passion and sense and a knowledge I had seldom heard in my visits. We finished our meal and I finally got to look at the two and was immedialty star struck as Frankie Bunn and Andy Rhodes were sat behind me. That was 10 ish years ago and now they are the managerial dream team. All I can say is that if they put into practice what they discussed that night then we will do ok. They were not impressed with the manager (IIRC it was Penney) and they didnt have very nice things to say about the owners. They also (which I found odd) said they hadnt been welcomed the previous time. I cant remember the exact words but they kind of hoped that they could bypass any fuss by meeting Gordy first. Good luck to them. They at least deserve our full support from the off as they were 'dreaming' of this 10 years ago. I though that was just for us mere supporters to dream of and not the players who were here for the best of times and played at the very highest the club have achieved.
  5. When was the last time you saw someone that happy to be the manager of Oldham Athletic?. He really really wanted this job. Two failed attempts... Third time lucky... That can only be see as hugely positive man refusing to believe he is not the man for the job.
  6. Well there's some vitriol on this thread. Here is a man with 20 odd years in the back office working and learning from various managers. Has seen success and failure knows what contributed to both. Has a distinguished playing career and still holds a current goalscoring record. He's been interviewed for the job three times and been overlooked twice but come back a third time. He knows all about the situation at the club and has STILL put pen to paper for OUR club HIS club. He may not be everyone's choice but the man has some balls taking the so called 'poison chalice'. I initially felt the underwhelming surrounding what looks like a makeshift or cheap appointment. It really isn't, the man WANTED to represent a club he loves and for that alone deserves the backing of the supporters. He has mine ... Welcome back Frankie, prove your doubters wrong ... Make them eat their words and don't set unrealistic unachievable targets publicly ... JFDI
  7. Burnley has to do with the 90s I worked in Bolton at the start of thier rise and our peak.... I'm sure there was a top of the table clash prior us being promoted. Maybe my old age ... But still dislike them. Although I'd love them to smash the premier league wide open .
  8. Started watching in 85/86 Season ... Leeds, Blackburn and Burnley and City were the 'rivals' of the times. Like lots of others I have an uncalled for hatred of Tranmere ..... Maybe it has something to do with getting stung at their place in a pre season friendly or maybe I am just sensible. I am an out and out ABU (anyone but utd) and that glancing header by Neil Adams will go with me to the grave, I mean how dare we. I have experienced massive highs like that day in 1993, Wembley, promotion, the great escape and the like. Along with massive lows (losing in a tin pot cup 0-1 at home to Hereford in -5 cold), relegation etc but the most curushed I have ever felt was the play off V Leeds...... I will always hate you .....Always !!
  9. Before kick off placide went to every player hugged and fist pumped them... And they all responded ... Shows some togetherness
  10. Wellens was constantly shouting instructions and listening to advice from TP. Two really well taken goals .. the sort we have been missing for so long. Really pleased that AAH put that away. Placide's handling was top class. Bryan mom in my book followed by Hunt, whos defensive work seemed to go unnoticed. The ref was shit ... But that's almost a given these days...
  11. That video has reminded me that Jon H was a fantasic keeper, I didnt need reminding that Wright was indeed a twat .... and still is.
  12. I always wondered what LL looked like ... Without the glasses
  13. Same article mentions Alan Stubbs, every silver lining !!!!
  14. 1st point ... a little gutted it wasn't 3 ...
  15. Really missed the chron website, views, comments and match report this week ... saw the MEN report but it's not the same
  16. This is not great news at all ... it's about the only paper we get a mention in. Best of luck to the 49 people affected
  17. Good to see you back ... best midfield in the league now !!
  18. Lineker, Waddle, Shearer were class but the combianation of Wright & Bright petrified out defence in what should have been a landslide victory.... Also a special mention for C_ntana
