  1. Swindon - Top team, top striker and money behind them. Oldham - Poor team, no strikers and skint. We were never really going to win this game was we? 4-2 sounds bad but every shot on target in the match went in so sometimes you just get these sort of games. It's so simple to sack Penney but I reckon if we got rid of him now then we'd go down. We've 3 games in hand - we could be mid-table especially if we start scoring so lets just all calm down eh! Every game is a big match now and we should focus on Walsall now and see if we can put in a performance against them.
  2. A tough lower league battle in which deserved to win. Tranmere had brief spells on top but we never really looked like conceeding especially with Brill looking as solid as we've seen him so far. Defensively we were calm and in control of any attack Tranmere made. The midfield looked better than it has done but still needs improvement in going forward with confidence. Price and Abbott looked a good strong partnership which I can see helping us staying up. My concern after going ahead was the fog coming in and potentially ruining our rare lead, luckily it didn't ruin such a cracking result. On another note about the day. To the muppets singing after 30 minutes Penney out songs followed by E.D.L songs please keep your idiotic views to yourself in future. I don't want to hear your daft political views at a football match. OK you want 'your' country back but I rather you didnt sing it whilst watching Latics..its embarressing - grow up. I noticed at the end of the game you wern't singing 'were going down with penney in charge..' so why bother at 0-0 after 30mins - ejits. Well done Dave you got the lads motivated today which we've been lacking all season. Lets take this win to Swindon and try and get a point down there which will be quite a mean task. The fan's who turned up today needed that win as you could tell with the celebrations at the end. Oh When the Bluuuuuues
  3. Cracking value for 17-22 year olds. Shame they don't this at Latics, I always think we lose a lot of fans once not being able to get in for under 16 as most don't have a job and going to £20 straight away means most just don't bother going anymore. I noticed they've made this a Cat A game which I've always wondered why we've never introduced - Huddersfield & Leeds £20 and teams like Yeovil and Colchester £10.
  4. Yeah I was having fun reading that. Seems free speech isnt so free after all.. Things are really bad at Latics on and off the pitch and Barry Owen has certainly made things worse tonight. Hardcore fans are leaving in droves due to the state of the club and our man on the board now comes on here telling us to get real? No Barry YOU get real. The club needs a shake up and with Mr Owen on the board I don't feel like our voices are being heard. For me it's been building up to this for a while and I and many others are sick of how we get treated as a fans of a stagnant League 1 club. In 2003 I was all behind the survival of our club but now I think maybe it would be better if we could have a fresh start and run the club our way. For a start I want someone on the board who I feel I could talk to without being patronised. With the internet, communication between the fans and the club should be so easy yet we never get anybody on here talking to us normally from the club.
  5. Oh yes I'll be there - another ground to tick off and we'll take a few down there to create a norwich'esk atmosphere again. Balloons anyone?
  6. In 23 first halves this season were currently 23rd in the league table just above Stockport. We've scored just 5 goals in these halves which makes us the worst for scoring in first halves in League 1. http://stats.football365.com/dom/ENG/D2/fsthalf.html Also were bottom of the scoring league by scoring 20 in 23 games - shocking.
  7. My team: GK- Brill RB - Lee CB - Gregan CB - :censored: When does his loan spell end? LB - Jacobson RM - Colbeck CM - Furman CM - Stephens LM - Whittaker ST - Smalley ST - O'Grady I presume we'll recall O'Grady from Rochdale to start against Hartlepool with him banging them in in League 2. Hartlepool are quite confident that this game will go ahead unless some serious bad weather hits the north east. It's good to see that Abbott and Taylor are back, hopefully a sign of good things to come. Whats the situation regarding yellow cards? Who's only a booking away from a suspension?
  8. Agree with that. For the first time this season I walked out dissapointed that we didn't win. We had our chances but we didn't finish them. Heffers shot that hit both posts was very unlucky and Brooke should of burried his two chances. Wycombe were poor and being down to 10 men it should of aided us onto victory. Colbeck looked dangerous and he should of stayed on the pitch if he was fit. However it wasnt meant to be and we play Tranmere in an early relegation 6 pointer. Can I also say that the fan's and stewards made the long cold trip worth it with the welcome they gave us.
  9. They should save the fan's risking driving down there in difficult conditions and call this game off. Since both teams are out of the FA Cup - re-arrange the game to the 2nd January. More fan's would turn up as a New Years game is always well attended especially compared to the match pre Chrismas.
  10. The question asked: “I don't know if it's possible - is safe standing a possibility? I think this could encourage attendance.” Alan Hardy “I would love to have standing. I have spoken to the Football League. Due to being designated as an all seater during the Premiership days we cannot go back.” Simon Corney “We would love standing and think it would have a massive impact and I don't know if we can challenge it, but if we can we will.” The thing to note from the standing debate is that we don't want the old style unsafe terracing back. Instead a modern version that has been tested successfully in Germany which would be ideal for the English football fan who should have the right to stand at a football match. Times have changed at football, a different breed of fans now attend games, with cctv and better policing, standing up is now just a matter of changing the legislation rather than a safety issue. I think the football league has given Hardy the easy answer and he’s taken it without arguing the positives that come with safe standing. Benefits would be achieved for the fans who like to sit down throughout a game as you wouldn’t clash with the supporter who likes to stand which blocks your view of the action. It would reduce aggression between stewards and fan’s, as the efforts of constantly trying to get a section sat down would be taken away. Atmosphere in the stadium would also be better. It would increase attendance as it would add to a positive match day experience which Simon Corney is aiming for. It would give the club something unique and if we are the first club to have it we’d be in the record books forever. It would also benefit our disabled supporters as the fans who want to stand would be away from blocking their view – which has been complained about on here about the RRE. Surely if the Germans can allow 25,000 fans to stand then can have a 3000 standing area. As for challenging the legislation - Why couldn't you challenge it? You can challenge anything if you really want too. Note to anybody reading this at the club – as it stands I’m not 100% about the move to Failsworth. If you get permission to test or erect a safe standing Stand then I will fully back the move away from Boundary Park.
  11. I said it at the time and I'll say it now - We should of kept Shez. As for Penney, give him more time but I'm not impressed by him so far. Keeping a manager is one way of achieving success eventually however we fail to understand this and axe the man in charge as soon as something goes wrong.
  12. If we build a ground with no character like Colchester then I'm afraid I shall not be bothering travelling to Failsworth to watch the club play. I hate little tin pot souless grounds like that and to me it would be a slap in the face in terms of what they think the club means to the fans. This Stadium will represent our club for the next 50 years, so if our ground isn't upto standard I assume were happy being a lower league club forever. Sure Boundary Park is in dire need of improvement but I'd be much happier if we sold off the car park for houses and stick a nice new corporate stand where the Lookers used to be. The land we have at Latics is worth a fortune so I'm not having us selling off our ground to move to a cheap bit of land away from the town and fan's.
  13. Agreed. The priorities for them now should be to stay up but I can only expect to hear about this stadium in Manchester that seems to me to be rushed and done on the cheap. They came in with the right mind set but they soon realised that this town aint goin' nowhere and the club cannot be saved. Look at the team now - it's shocking (Penney has a lot to blame also for the players he brought in), were League 2 standard without the ground facilities after our social club and Lookers family stand with bar and entertaining kids were pulled down. There's no warmth around the place anymore, it used to feel like home but now it feels like a marriage on the rocks.. 16 goals in 22 games says it all really.
  14. The 07/08 season had us playing well but not getting the results early doors whilst this bunch can't score to save their lives. We had a good cup run in 07/08 but not this season as we've been knocked out of every cup in the 1st round. The crowds were larger and we had a bar in the Lookers and the Clayton was still up to drown our sorrows after the game. Different season so lets look at what we've got now - not much is it. I hate to be negative but we've got a long hard winter ahead of us at Latics.
  15. The owners really need to sort our stewards out. Were attracting 3400 home fans to a boring League 1 November game and these ejits are threatening to eject a fan for taking photo's?! Ok so it's to stop the copyright etc..who in the world would buy photo's of that match yesterday? I used to love Sean's fans view photos on the old message board and then they stopped him taking them aswel - and you wonder why people are getting sick of going. This is just another little story along with the others that really makes you think why pay £20 to get treated like a thug/hooligan when all you want to do is enjoy the game without any hassle then go home happy. For the Leeds game I'm taking my camera and taking lots and lots of photo's. I think everyone should do it just to make a point that were sick of being treated like muppets.
  16. I hope this Guy comes onto OWTB and reads the previous problems/issues with the club and discusses his plans and idea's to get the club turned around again. Sean Jarvis was great for talking to the fan's and the attendances went up with him running the marketing. Tough job ahead for him but its not an impossible task and it's something I'd love to do because at the moment us as fan's are just helpless in helping the club. Welcome to Latics...
  17. Mines flying proudly out of my apartment window in the centre of Leeds ready for the big cup game on Saturday! Come on you blue boys don't let us down..
  18. What's your personal favorite Oldham picture taken of all time? For me it's the Gary McDonald celebration photo - It gives me goosebumps everytime I see it!
