  1. Gifted that to them with formation questionable, although after the last 20 against bury can see why he did that. Happy to see such an early sub as omrani was terrible. We were a better team than them, I think with placide we would beat them and they are a top 6 side. Nothing in this division at all so although frustrating it’s not the end of the world. Placide has shown what can be expected of a pro keeper. Ruddy I’m afraid was pants all game. His kicking especially was embarrassing a after what we have seen from placide
  2. Great win and much needed. Was impressed with bury, worked hard and defence gave no change to Davies. Was funny sub by Clarke to take their best player ince off. thought omrani brought a good physical presence to midfield and made a difference coming on. Davies put a real shift in a placide was solid and confident. Great to watch us playing under wellens
  3. easily the best pairing we have had and doyle's workrate is great to see. Both working hard and now full of confidence they should keep scoring. Both have had 20+ goal seasons in the past at this level when they play regularly so shouldnt be a flash in pan. i expect them to keep scoring if we keep playing in the same way. just hope wellens doesnt go to 1 up front away seeing as they have been so prolific.
  4. Agree with this he is a really good player but you need to bare in mind he is playing in an attacking team with some quality in Byrne behind him. The way we have played for last few years he would have looked as rubbish as the rest as service to front two has been dire as we have largely been a defensive team. Anyway playing like we are id be surprised if he didn’t get 10/12 before Xmas
  5. Just looked at the table and taking todays standings we have already played.............1st, 2nd, 3rd, 6th, 7th, 9th, 10th. 7 of 10 games against sides performing well so far in the division. obviously we havent done so well but as the team improves we should have a run against some of the lesser teams. late oct/nov looks like most of the bottom 10 in a row. could be a good run for a new manager to start off with and build up some momentum.......that is if we can beat the bottom teams which we never seem to do
  6. only too immobile if they play an attacking open game where's there's plenty of space. if we play like back end of last year then gerrard stands out as it plays to his strengths and he doesn't have to run that much. might be usefull in some games if we decide to go a bit more defensive. have to see how the new managers likes to play
  7. absolutely no footballer in fane. he cant make a 5 yard pass on a carpet of a pitch. he'll never get any better on the ball but i do think he's worth his weight in gold for breaking play up and working hard. away from home and in the winter months when we need to get stuck in he'll be very valuable. for me he does a job but is frustrating to watch someone with such poor ability in the middle of the pitch.
  8. well what a good game of football.....well worth the 22 notes and its been a while since I've said that. placide was worth the entrance fee alone...he will be caught on the ball on the wing at some point this season and give a goal or two away but looks a good footballer and caught well. can see why he used to play for france u-21 now as clearly has a lot of talent. doyle also played well with byrne who is a very good footballer but gave it away too much for me tonight. see some people raving about fane, he tackles well and will be worth his weight in gold in winter months but not good enough for me to play in middle whilst pitches are good. pub footballer standard. banks running their striker through onto goal was him all over. hunt can't play wing back for me and back 3 needs some work but team is in miles better shape than in previous years. def won't be down at bottom for too much longer once the team get used to formation and playing with each other. these new players will have plenty of ability just need a manager who can keep them interested. don't want to be a newcastle when all the french players basically went on strike as one had been mistreated by the manager. anyway looking forward to the new appointment now and getting to a few more games as if they are like that tonight they will be a good watch
  9. Booom!!! Get in. Defence can do it we saw last year. Will eventually get it sorted and Finally got 2 strikers who can score which is more important for me. Massive win, onwards and upwards
  10. the division will be a fair bit tougher next year. I think you are giving the 3 promoted teams a disservice there as i expect all of them to be clear of the bottom 4. Wigan will not have the prem cash this time so wont be as strong but still come down with decent team for this level if they can keep it together. blackburn depends on what happens behind the scenes, either promotion or relegation. I'd be happy with a top half finish. teams we should finish above for me are gillingham, northampton, bury, shrewsbury, wimbledon. i expect us to be in and around rochdale, walsall, peterborough, fleetwood in mid table
  11. Tope changed the game soon with mcglochlin on wing. Should have been the starting line up and for me should be next season. 4-4-2. New keeper, gerrard in plus same today. Midfield as we finished and someone to partner Holloway although he worries me. We play miles better with him but he has to get 6/7 if he plays every week min and that would be a crap return. However 6/7 is a big ask for him, never threatens the goal but perhaps with wingers he would do more. could be a decent team developing
  12. Top clearance off the line as well as the cross bar saving us but what a great win. They weren't that good, better side first half but I thought we battled well. 7 points from sheff u fleetwood and Bolton is a great return and what will keep us up. We will loose to Rochdale who will have nowt to play for next week now!! The sending off helped us as tope was up top and we had more movement and could get in behind. For me we need to be signing him up as he looks decent and can play left side or up top so a couple of decent options
  13. Really good game and I though everyone played well tonight but the front two set the tone with really a really good front two performance. First time I've seen Erwin put himself about. And holloway looked dangerous and really should have scored. We should have been 2-0 up before we scored. Special mention for green who I thought looked great and mcglochlin who worked hard and cross for the winner was superb. Back to 4-5-1 at Peterborough i rec with shez making full use of the squad
  14. Ripley said in his comments before the game at their place they had totally outplayed us and I think they are a half decent team. I fancy them to stay up. Gillingham on the other hand are dropping quickly and in pennock don't have a tried and tested manager. Hopefully vale have a bad few games and get cut adrift then it's one spot from a few teams.
  15. We have a bad run in so need to be winning games in march to pull clear. He's done a great job and we have pulled a number of teams into the mire but it's still going to be tight. We def have a great chance which is more than we had 11 games ago
  16. i can easily see why it happens, the players do themselves no help to avoid this situation when their general play at times is only slightly better than what you see on a sunday morning. the level of some players is frankly embarrassing in this league, but they usually get pro deals and get away with it because of outstanding physical attributes, like height, strength or pace/stamina. burgess and dunne are prime examples. there basic control + passing on their good foot is dubious never mind on their weaker foot. when you see burgess smash it out for a throw-in on more than one occasion under no pressure i dont think its too harsh to write them off immediately. those two aren't even near the worst ive seen either, lord kgangwa or whatever he was called and that lad from city ,plummer was it, we loaned a couple of years ago were so bad it was obvious they were out of their depth 30 mins into watching their debut's
  17. yep....clubs a shambles. think i got a wrong email not so long ago they had to apologise about.
  18. thought he had good movement and with a better supply could have scored goals.......however part of me thinks that the scottish prem is so poor that anyone from there is not going to be up to league one level. diamond, erwin and mckay all good spl players but struggle in league 1. cant decide if we didnt help him enough or if he just isnt up to this level
  19. but we need new blood in the midfield and on the wings. if the rolling of the dice is if we can get cash and clarke off the wage bill we can sign a midfielder and winger id do that deal even though clarke is the best player. cant imagine we have cash just free to sign more players to keep us up. dont want to see him go and if he goes and no one comes in id be fuming but if we then get one/two players to help us create then id think that is a decent move for us to be doing
  20. he's not great and his negative play and decisions are frustrating but sacking him in december is not the way forward, he needs time........just going to put us in a worse spot as no one better to replace him and we'd be left with a load of players on 1 year deals playing for a manager who hasn't signed them and they may not play any better for someone else. constant changes of manager only end in clubs going backwards. have to stick with him for this year and to this point in the next as a minimum. whatever division we are in
  21. you've obviously forgot how bad last years team was.......
  22. disappointing result. not unexpected as they are top of the conference but we def under performed as should have been the stronger team. for me robinson still isn't helping the side playing defensive tactics and not playing our best goal threat mckay. green was off the boil today but is still a good player for us. burgess isn't great and need a break and dunne is a much more solid left back. fane also needs to play as gets stuck in, playing green and banks was powderpuff. still i don't think we are worse than last year, better keeper and if we can supply some chances mckay will score so can still stay up. but a lot of work to be done. clarke can not get injured!!
  23. what game have you been watching......erwin was and has been naff all year. was missing for most of the first half and constantly drifts out to the left wing. thats why he has barley scored
  24. awful...if he's our classical centre mid we won't create anything. a few nice sideward passes under no pressure and he's fine. other than that he can't pass
  25. ohh dear that was poor! all round poor defending passing and attacking play. can't get worse than that. these will cruise it 3 or 4 at this rate. now for robinson to earn his money and shake things up. erwin off, rockford off and someone in the middle who can pass needed
