    While a bit disappointed we didn't get on the end of some good deliveries credit to the Preston keeper Rudd he was very commanding in the air

    definitely with today's service I thought we were unlucky with their goals, was always going to make it difficult to break down a solid team like Preston away from home. First time i've seen us this season and very positive despite the result.

    Oxley had every right to go for that ball if he won it fair and square, lets not use this as a stick to beat him with.

    I'd like to see Mellor back in the middle of the park. I thought at the end of last season he was excellent. Not only breaking up play and retaining possession but also able to play the ball through the middle.

    Thing is if your a first team regular 1.5k basic plus 1.5k appearance is essentially 3k a week because you play most games. I heard that a couple of players had that deal in recent seasons

    Sounds like being back at Oldham could be just the tonic needed to fulfill his early potential! fingers crossed

    Looks, like he will be off and will be a massive loss but for once it seems we have plenty of attacking options so is not as bad as it would have been last season. If Baxter going means we can get in a quality CB it would certainly soften the blow.

    you can sneak pretty much anything into a footy ground if you really want to, the stewards are not going to find everything even with a search.

    Glad that is sounds like Brown is progressing. I'll be honest I was disappointed that we were not looking to bring in another first choice RB but he looks to have proven me wrong by all accounts. Was never fully convinced by Tarkowski, but it sounds like now he is the senior CB he has stepped up to the plate! Long may it continue:)

    Only saw him once last season but thought he looked OK, not the finished article but plenty to work on.

    I forgot about David Lee after us I ink his career was ended by a bad leg break if memory serves correct

    Interesting, didn't realise they had a £million plus striker. Thought we sounded like we played well on the commentary despite the result. Not feeling negative yet. It is always going to be tough when you play teams that can afford better quality players who can create something out of nothing. Lets hope the players dont get too disheartened by form, if they keep playing well it should click, plenty of time for results to improve.

    I've recently moved abroad so missed all this season and preseason but very surprised not to see Mellor in midfield at all after the way he finished last season

    I'm always surprised at the amount of people who knock premier league fans and clubs because if one of us suddenly struck oil and ploughed the profits I to Oldham that's where we would be heading and I doubt anyone would be complaining and I'm sure we would win back some of those armchair fans!

    Personally thought he was one of the major reasons we stayed up last season. Can be error prone and can't do long passes but his distribution is usually fine if he keeps it short and on the ground. Big strong, good defender, wins most things in the air and even has a bit of flair (nearly scored a wonder goal last season when he ran the length of the pitch). If he can keep improving will be a good signing for you!

    Enjoy promotion everyone, my watching Oldham career consists of 2 relegation and stagnation in L1. Now I have moved abroad, its bound to be our season

    Dickov was a breath of fresh air when he arrived and we had some cracking games that some people tend to forget. Because of this he was quite rightly given time to improve but he perhaps was given too much time when it was apparent there was no plan b. Johnson has already shown improvements last season getting us out of the mire hence optimism returning. Especially in terms of some of the homegrown lads like belizieka Mellor and millar. Therefore deserves the curren plaudits IMO

    I thought Mellor was excellent in the middle at the end of last season that's why I am disappointed to see him play at the back but if that's where the manager thinks he can play ill trust his judgement. Everyone says he isn't a cb but others have said he has regularly played there in the past so I am sure he can learn. My main worry is the pairing with tarky I'd rather have one of them alongside a player of mvotos stature

    Gregan and fitz hall were both very good on the ball at league 1 level
