  1. I know, but if I've not checked the thread for a lengthy period of time, those first new posts may not be relevant any more so then I have to scroll through and find relevant information. Some pretty big news or points of interest get buried in those threads, when they merit their own contained thread. It's just a hassle to weed them out and then read relevant posts whilst navigating through other posts regarding other talking points in these mega threads.
  2. Don't apologise. New signings deserve new threads. It's become a habit on here to confine all chat to about 3 or 4 different threads, it makes it hard to keep up with what's going and it has made this message board a pretty drab and tedious affair for the most part. Back in the day you had new threads not just for transfers and breaking news, but for new rumours too, and the place was a lot livelier for it. Even though we had a "Transfer rumours" thread, we had one for each new window, rather than the current one that dates back to last year. You don't know where to start when you click into it. Take the "Take over/investment" thread. That was made regarding the initial take over of Al like two years ago, how is it still relevant to post in today? I get there's still questions and discussions to be had regarding his ownership, but they'd be better served being separate discussions of their own based on new information that has come out since, rather than just having one bucket to discuss all ownership discussion. It's got that bad that because I never really check the website and follow social media sporadically, I didn't realise Shez had left us for Notts County until like a day after it happened, 'cause nobody created a thread regarding it, it all got discussed in a generic "Shez" thread and I used to use this forum to check for breaking news ahead of all other platforms. I dunno, it might be just me, but consolidating all the chat into the same threads has ruined the experience of discussing Latics on here.

  4. I'm sure we can afford 200k given how much we're skimping in other areas. Like paying the Club Store manager a measley 20k a year. https://www.oldhamathletic.co.uk/news/2019/july/03072019-club-shop-staff-advert/
  5. I see Forest have appointed a new manager today who gives Banide a run for his money in terms of obscurity.
  6. Nah, if we'd announced a top 3 manager in the world I'm sure we could muster up a bit of optimism.
  7. Terrible. I read that he’d be taken into hospital last week but had no idea how serious it was. Comments on Twitter suggest he’s been on a life support machine since being taken in and the decision was made to turn it off. Truly awful. RIP.
  8. Signs a 1 year extension https://www.oldhamathletic.co.uk/news/2019/may/21052019-nepomuceno-extension/ Really pleased with that. He's a key player for us on form, can cause teams all sorts of problems. 6 goals and 10 assists last season and I'd back him to do even better next season.
  9. Just got told in work that we're linked to a guy who was once Caretaker of Bayern, this Jonker chap. I assumed for it to be true this guy was the literal caretaker, swept up and cleaned out the bogs.
  10. Not a hard choice to make really considering MJ wasn't a kiddler.
  11. It’s so frustrating that we’ve largely been shit this season, and we only needed to be a little less shit and we’d be contending for automatic promotion. If only we could have kept Surridge. He might have been the difference maker.
  12. We can beat 2nd in the table but not Cheltenham. Fuck sake Oldham.
  13. We were 19th in League Two on the 11th August 2018 #Progress
  14. Confirmed as manager until the end of the season. Official SMS
  15. Correa now joint favourite at 2/1 on Sky Bet.
  16. Mixing with the wrong bellends. I’ve overheard him recently espousing some complimentary comments about The Third Reich.
  17. An accompanying iFollow subscription for all ST purchases. ST holders should have access to watch interviews and press conferences without having to pay extra.
  18. In honour of Mark Hollis who passed away today. A genius who created two of the best albums I’ve ever heard in Spirit of Eden and Laughing Stock.
  19. It's laughable that people are making judgment calls on Scholes already. What did they expect? We've got a mid table squad. We've barely got any fire power up front and we concede every game. It's win some lose some for the rest of the season. It's a write off. I'm sure most of these players won't be here next season, then we'll see what sort of manager Scholes is. When he's got his own players playing for him.
  20. They've been twice as good as we have tbf. They've got the quality that we don't have. A team who look like they belong challenging v promotion against a team that will finish mid table.
  21. The meltdown in here is ridiculous. Some of you need to give your heads a wobble. Are we as good a team as we showed against Yeovil? No. Are we as shit a team as we showed last night? No. We’re inconsistent and will probably finish 15th-10th. We all knew we weren’t good enough to make the playoffs. Didn’t matter if we took 9 points from the last three, we knew we’d faulter a long the way. People making comments like we should have kept Wild or Bunn need to get off their periods. It’s been 3 fucking game. Scholes is learning on the job, I’d rather he learn his mistakes from now until May. He’s pretty much got a free pass until then. Most of these players are dogshit, some of the worst we’ve ever had. It wasn’t Scholes that signed then, he’s got to work with what he’s got. The best manager in the world won’t turn O’Grady into a prolific nor effective player.
  22. Signed for Dundalk https://www.oldhamathletic.co.uk/news/2019/february/15022019-cameron-dummigan/ Surprised that it’s been 4 seasons. Never had the potential impact that we thought he might, he was highly thought of at Burnley and it seemed an excellent signing, showed a lot of promise in his initial loan spell that he’d do well enough for us to sell at some point. Could never settle in the team due to injuries though. Wish him all the best, hope he does well at Dundalk.
