  1. Perhaps it should say "... the team mostly out of possession" . I'd prefer "be the best team putting the ball in the net"
  2. Agreed that expectations are low, but thankfully we are not cut adrift at the bottom and a couple of good signings in January could change the season round. We need another decent midfield player who can deliver going forward and a striker that leads the line and can score more regularly than the current line up. KTF.
  3. If the manager knew Lincoln were big and physical, why start with Winnie and Banks? Defending so deep they can only play long ball to the forwards who can't do anything with it.
  4. Hard to believe some of this team are picking up a wage as a professional footballer - can't pass water, can't deal with route 1, can't hold the ball up, can't tackle, can't man up.
  5. Has Reck(f)ord found a blue shirt with a pass yet?
  6. Lighten up - there will be plenty of posts that will dissect every word he said and spin it however they wish.
  7. So little money in the club that the Chairman doesn't have decent chair to sit on!
  8. Perhaps the ticket pricing is the one thing they have complete control over. The club has no control over what the team does on the pitch as that depends on the other team allowing entertaining winning football ( if this team actually could produce it in the first place!)
  9. The 3 loan strikers out in January and 3 new ones in. See if that makes a difference, the current 3 don't appear to have the desire or technique to give the team a fighting chance to get points
  10. We don't need another defender - we need a striker with experience. It is not the 'goals against' column that will decide this season. For all Gerard's qualities, the money would be better spent elsewhere.
  11. If no one can take a decent set piece, how can they train to defend a a good set piece??
  12. I admire your optimism - which games might those be?
  13. If we can't score in most of the matches, everything else is irrelevant. What really worries me is that we hardly work the keeper even when our shot shy strikers get a shot away!
  14. I think it's the incompetence factor that is in play here. We complain that the midfield and strikers don't score, but looking at their records none of the midfield have a history of goal scoring, Flynn has a 1 in 10 record, as has Banks,: Croft has played 300 games and scored 15 goals, Winchester scores around 1 in 15 appearances since breaking in to the team. Only McKay has a decent scoring record and we don't seem to play to whatever strengths he had when scoring them, It's been mentioned elsewhere that while having some experienced players at the back and in midfield we have no experienced head up front. Dummigan was brought in as a good prospect but we had cover in his position and a better balance would have been to get an experienced striker instead of a loanee with no football league experience. Finally, confidence is a big thing in football and it's a lack of confidence going forward that has been endemic over the last few seasons rather than fear of the crowd turning - If you want to get the crowd behind you then go for it (like the Royle years when even relegation battling seasons still kept the crowd behind the team).
  15. Experimental graphics are really interesting and provide a good statistical analysis of why we are where we are. I wonder then why we brought in Dummigan, an exciting prospect possibly but playing a position that we had adequate cover for, rather than trying to bring in an experienced striker instead of a loanee with no league scoring record?
  16. After many seasons of failure where we have changed the manager, the coaches and the players every season, I've come to the conclusion that the only constant throughout has been the supporters - it's obviously their fault and they should be changed. .... And yes, I am having a joke, even if it's the performances that seem laughable.
  17. Record looks like 10 goals in 91 appearances - should fit right in !!
  18. We keep blasting Coleman for errors, but seem to forget that at the other end none of the strikers look like they have a goal threat between them. But that's apparently ok because " they put a shift in" !! If we go down it's more likely be the goals for total rather than the goals against.
  19. Quick question on the back of players brought in recently - who was the last signing that really excited you? I thought Rooney, based on his scoring record before (and since!), but then he was completely mismanaged during his time at BP and never got the chance to show what he could do.
  20. The goals for record is so poor that it will take us down, the players brought in won't change that unfortunately. The defence's record isn't that bad in comparison with other teams in the bottom half. Jusl think, if it doesn't look like it's working out then we always bring on 'goal-machine' Cassidy!
  21. Not enough goals in the team to keep us up, I'm afraid. I'm not sure where a striker can be brought in from to change things - unless a Premiership youngster available on loan. Cassidy sadly doesn't look to have a goal in him.
  22. Why does anybody think that a new manager would work - there is no evidence that the Oldham squad is remotely good enough - and hasn't been good enough for a long time. They consistently concede and are equally incapable of maintaining any momentum getting forward.
  23. What worries me is that for the last few seasons I've felt there were 4 teams worse than Latics - but looking at the table now, I'm not sure that there are this season. For the last few years Corney has gambled over and over again - this looks like the year his bets go down!
  24. Is it just me who can't get a commentary - again?
