  1. I wasn't there so won't comment on the poor performance but telling your own fans to stop booing you doesn't strike me as a "billy big bollocks-bellend" reaction, particularly as he put a shift in last week and apparently this as well. Not much is achieved by booing your own players however much they may deserve it. Don't know if you were one of those defending Gerrard for his response to criticism on twitter but it'd be easier to ignore that than someone having a go during a match in my opinion.
  2. I am looking at now, not 20 years ago when they were in the top division and sadly that time has long gone for us and them. We are in the bottom league, as are they, and the potential support of both clubs has dwindled tremendously and will never fully return no matter what is served up on the pitch. As for the council they struggle to empty bins and maintain roads due to the governments penny pinching.
  3. The roughyeads are as skint as us - only 350 at one home match this season. Plus they couldn't meet their rent when they were getting 5 x that attendances.
  4. Obviously AL/FB/Barry has hi-jacked his account and he's locked in the trophy room at Boundary Park. ( p.s. this is only yet another conspiracy theory ).
  5. Yes, he'll never get on with the mature adult that is Jack Byrne.
  6. I'm glad some posters on here weren't on my shoulder when I was working.
  7. Point taken but he implies that a 2 year contract was a possibility.
  8. He's in his own little world. Why wouldn't a manager he's previously played under and who apparently rates him not tie him down if he's as good as he thinks he is ?
  9. Wasn't really bothered what he said when he was one of our players so certainly aren't now he isn't.
  10. If you want that kind of "personality" move to Liverpool it's full of them.
  11. Do we really want someone who's had "media training" whereby we hear what they say but they say nothing or just let them not answer in their own way. If you expect Frankie to say who's fit and expected to play I think you'll be disappointed for the rest of his tenure, it's not his style apparently. As for naming targets only top managers with a big bankroll do that to unsettle their targets. Plus we all get the chance to post our suggested teams and then whinge away when the manager disagrees with us. I'm all for a bit of secrecy it's a pleasant change from all the shit that appears on social media.
  12. I can't believe that the pies and soft drinks are franchised because no decent company would run it this way. As stated previously a frozen pie can be warmed safely in a normal oven after about 40 minutes so there's no real excuse for a lack of them at half time. It just needs a bit of organisation. If it was my business (i.e. Oldham Athletic) I'd make damn sure that every avenue of moneymaking was exploited, especially with the level of prices charged at football matches. It's a real missed opportunity
  13. Was a fairly late starter at Boundary Park as my dad hadn't much interest in football, relied on George a mate of his taking me. Can remember watching Johnstone, Lister, Colquhoun and of course my hero Bob and the cup match versus West Ham ( when my 5'5" dad told some 6 foot plus Hammers to "get to the back of the bloody queue" as they tried to push to the front of us waiting to get into the cowshed. Was excited walking to the match seeing posters on lamp posts that we'd signed Ian Towers and equally disappointed when we sold George Kinnell to Sunderland after a dozen or so matches. But the match that really sticks in my memory was one of my first night matches against Mansfield Town. My favourite player was played as a makeshift centre forward and, late in the game if I remember rightly, was through on goal and shot straight at their goalie, shot against the crossbar with his second effort and finally buried his header on the rebound. If only I would have been old enough to savour a pint* on the way home it would have been the perfect night ! * We did use to have a couple of pints of mild in the Dog and Duck on St. Domingo Street before night matches with schoolmates ( Dad told me to only drink mild 'til I was 18 which I diligently observed ! ) only to be told by the Landlord to "fuck off you're underage" when I attempted to change a particularly rank pint. And this after he'd served us for a season and a half !
  14. Cheers, thought he'd been offered a contract extension.
  15. Actually he refused to re-sign for the terms offered.
  16. I bought half a pound of Leicester cheese yesterday, may be something to do with it !
  17. I bow to your superior knowledge and agree it could be a "goer".
