  1. I think it's more your fixation with not having O'Grady in the starting eleven. You must at least admit he turned and put Surridge in down the wing for the first goal and won the flick on for the second. He does win his fair share of aerial duels despite giving inches away and although slow leads a line well in my opinion. I too would like to see Lang play with Surridge again after their cameo v Barnsley but there's no great rush to change a winning team, however pressing your agenda is.
  2. Just depends how long your memory is. I can remember Bobby Johnstone, Tommy Bryceland and Simon Stainrod but also Jim Beardall and Dickie Downs. We haven't always played the kind of football we all crave, sometimes we've been pretty shit.
  3. Surely it's a small steps first approach that we've been taking ? As confidence builds the football will be more acceptable to the "purists" in our midst. For the time being I'm quite happy to take the points and our league position, especially considering what the "Jonahs" were predicting pre-season. I've just watched Saturday's second half and quite enjoyed seeing a TEAM performance which, although not perfection, will go a long way taking us in the direction we all want. To see all 10 outfield players genuinely celebrating the first goal was great and will stand us in good stead should it continue throughout the season.
  4. Think O'Grady will prove more useful away from home where holding the ball up is at a premium. From yesterday's highlights he linked well with Surridge for his goals and other chances but am sure we will see a lot more from Lang in the coming months.
  5. You come across as having not much life in you so I'd stay away if I was you.
  6. Not bad for a team in our position and some supporters who crave the ifollow option ! p.s. I don't go away from home.
  7. The time for this was five or six seasons ago or when he re-signed for manure. Could have put a thousand or so on the gate then but wanted time out of the game. Would be a sideshow we can do without now.
  8. Think O'Grady may make way for Gevaro at Grimsby. 4-4-2 can work with our players.
  9. You're way to positive to be posting on here ! Much better (even allowing for the fact you've not been to the match) that you belittle out of form players labeling them as shit; criticize the manager's negative tactics and substitutions and harp on about an ex-player who played well in about 10 games in a season where we got relegated. I was amazed reading this board after yesterday's match to read the majority of posters saying it was a poor match. I thought it was the best I'd seen us play all season and with a little more luck ( first half penalty? three missed second half headers ? ) and a propensity to shoot when nearing the box could have won by a fair margin.
  10. Where's this "he doesn't fancy Baxter" come from ? Is it just made up to substantiate an argument or has he actually said it ? For my part I'm not sure the current Baxter is a shoe in for our team as he seems a bit off the pace, especially in the last two games he's appeared in.
  11. He actually gave three different timescales, but just pick the most negative if you wish.
  12. It was an attempt at irony, obviously misplaced. No, sadly Bob died a few years back so however addled mine might be I'd still prefer it to his.
  13. Maybe it was aimed at one of the Irish lads we just don't know, but feel free to guess !
  14. In that case, whilst acknowledging the need for the two of them to form an effective partnership, on this occasion I respectfully disagree.
  15. So you're advocating playing arguably our best forward who six games into the league season has missed matches on two occasions for a midweek match most supporters aren't interested in ?
  16. Perhaps news of his behavior hasn't reached Scotland yet, or perhaps he believes he can "straighten him out" like all his previous managers have probably thought. Anyway good luck to Jack, and anybody who has contact with him.
  17. A lot of problems are caused by players not knowing the rules which in itself is laughable. You only have to listen to co-comentators on Sky and BT to realise that even they haven't a clue as to the rules of a game they are supposed to pass comment and "insider knowledge" on. The handball rule being a prime example. "Yes well he gets control of the ball so it's obviously handball" one said recently, which isn't in the games rules to my knowledge. On a side note it's an interesting point to wonder whether the "handled" goal scored by Wolves against City last week would have been disallowed had the officials spotted it, as it surely could not have been construed as deliberate.
  18. Agreed. He seems to be the forgotten man this season and could do with a couple of first team appearances to get him up to speed in case he's needed in the next few weeks. Can't see him breaking up the George and Clarkey partnership so Tuesday would be a good opportunity to play him in central defence.
