  1. We can't hope for both because...? I didn't say we would win both I said we could hope for both...
  2. Why is this a mutually exclusive poll? The outcomes are totally unrelated. Can't we hope for both?
  3. Bearing in mind that I haven't seen the particulars of the rental amount being asked, as the OEC is almost certainly VAT registered then VAT would be needed to be added to the rent. That would add another £15k, unless the £75k quoted is already a gross figure, ie. £62.5k + VAT = £75k. Worth checking if you do decide to go down that route.
  4. Ah Clubcall. I remember it well. I used to work in an open plan office and would dial Clubcall 2 or 3 times a day to see what had happened in the last couple of hours. I remember Jack Dearden used to spin it out for a couple of minutes before telling us if there was any news, which usually there wasn't. Or if there was, it was after you had to spend 2 minutes listening to ticket and travel information for a midweek match at Walsall. I became quite adept at pretending I was on the phone to someone, saying yes or no at varying intervals so that my colleagues thought that I was talking to a client. Sorry big accountancy firm who I worked for...I may owe you twenty quid!
  5. Wasn't it Fane who got suspended, or am I misremembering...I have tried to block last season out!
  6. If this is true then he really has shown no loyalty. So, from my point of view good riddance. I haven't seen him live but on the highlights almost every opposition goal seemed to come from one of his parries. I'm sure there are better free transfers around. (Don't ask me to name them, but I'm sure nevertheless!)
  7. Is a lorry full of oxygen that is on fire just a load of hot air?
  8. Guys, this may be controversial and it is just a suggestion, but can we give the team and Wellens all the support we can this week? Surely any talk about a new manager can wait until next week, but for the moment it must surely be about getting behind the club and hopefully seeing us over that finishing line.
  9. Scunthorpe v Plymouth is live on Sky on Tuesday. Never thought I would be watching that, never mind cheering one side on!
  10. Does Owl ever post again after a thread that he/she/it has started?
  11. With regard to our training facilities, they may not be great...but they never have been. However, the fact that our current first choice back four is missing is nothing to do with the training facilities. Dummigan was injured playing for Northern Ireland, Gerrard was injured against Bury, Bryan was injured against Oxford, and Moimbe was sent off against Gillingham. The training facilities don't come into any play with regard to any of those players not being available.
  12. Can somebody tell the BBC website it's Hamer not Haymer. They got it wrong at the weekend.
  13. For what it's worth...probably not much! My four to go down have been for a while Bury, Northampton, Wimbledon and Walsall. I think we'll escape...just. I can see Rochdale and MK getting the results they need.
  14. On ITV4 the other day there was a two part programme about the impact of foreign players on the British game in the late 70's and early 80's. Towards the end there was a 30 second clip of Latics away at Chelsea with Ryszard Kowenicki slicing a shot horribly wide of goal. The insinuation being that not every overseas player was necessarily great. Personally I really liked him.
  15. I've lost track of who owns what in terms of Boundary Park, but if I am right in thinking that Brass Bank own most/all of it then any income from Roughyeds using it would presumably go to them rather than the club.
  16. I may well be in the minority but I like small/local teams to do well. Obviously not at Oldham's expense, that goes without saying. But, maybe I am a romantic at heart, I love to see the Davids do well against the Goliaths. I am old enough to remember (and to have been there) when we had our great cup runs in 1990. It seemed as if the whole country was behind us. I don't begrudge Rochdale anything...so long as we finish above them in the relegation scrap.
  17. "A bit of a coup"? It's not Robert Mugabe is it?
  18. They both sent me signed photos in the days when footballers were normal(ish) guys. I've still got them in a scrap book. If I had to chose...Simon for his trickery, Rodger the Dodger because he could score.
