Every time I start thinking this board is full of idiots, all I have to do is go and read some readers' comments on the Chron site and I realise there's a whole new class of idiot that hasn't made it to OWTB (yet).

Wouldn't put money on it  All we need now are these MEN crap journos posting on here to complete the set.

What exactly is different with todays article than the orginal ?? Sweet FA apart from the copy and past stuff taken from the OS / here

I wish to god the club would hurry up and draw a line under all this, if the next board of directors meeting is Thursday, then bring it forward to tomorrow. Rumours & what if's are bugging us all...well for me at least. Waiting till Thursday only gives the team 24 hours to prepare for a big game at plastic FC and if we are going to be losing personel before this game, then it needs doing now. If no one is going, then please put us out of our inquisitive misery.

I notice its by this Mike Keegan idiot again. Claims to be an 'ardent latics fan' in his MEN blog.

Great job you're doing for the club Mike, thanks alot, really helping the club with its PR.

aaaaaaaaaaaw, it's awful nice of the gaffer to take us out for a pissup, and give us a couple of days off, you know, we're overworked footballers, hardly get any time to ourselves. i mean, its not like we have anything to play for at the moment.

an absolute disgrace. carrying on like they've already been promoted.

Totally agree. I imagine he reads this board - you're a w****r Keegan.

why not train all week without breaking focus, have the pr night on a sat or sun after the colchester game and limit the alcohol?

I have no problems with the Tuesday off. The players had just played 2 tough games in 3 days and collected 4 points. Also they were on club duties the Tuesday night. Wednesday is their day off.

Yet another one dimensional negative point of view, sadly now typical of OWTB. :(

the problem is though,it all well and good having the tuesday off after the game or the weekend, dont think anybody will argue with that, most other clubs do it so there isnt a problem..

the problems start when people say wednesday is there normal day off,if there having tuesday off they dont need wednesday off as well.

yes the club have been promoting this dogs night for a while and yes 200 fans were in attendance, but the club or the management should of laid down the rules plain and simple...

dont go over the top and make fools of yourself, have a couple of pints and then soft drinks as your training tomorrow.....but boss wednesday is our day off....tough,your having tuesday off this week,we have an important game this weekend and after a great 4 points from 2 tough games i want us focused on closing the gap between other teams...so tomorrow your training like it or not.

It's a matter of opinion.

My opinion is that the players keeping their rightful day off is now being turned into a stick to beat Shez with. Had we won on Saturday you wouldn't mind, and I don't think the reason we lost on Saturday is because the players didn't train on Wednesday! My opinion is also that an extra day off following 2 games in 3 days, or 4 in 9, isn't unjust.

By the way the players still 'worked' on Tuesday, (after 'finishing' late on the Monday).

why not make these great suggestions BEFORE the event?

nothing wrong with the scheduling, its the behaviour that was the problem.

point taken. i just can't believe they ever thought a night drinking and gambling would be a good idea in the first place, let alone promote it as a public night. but as you can see in the video, not one of them saw it that way anyway. it was a piss up and a get together coz they all felt they needed/deserved it. my idea of a pr exercise would involve kids.

one thing that hit me recently is that the four involved are our four most important people in the dressing room, and most vital ingredients in promotion. manger, captain, top scorer and home town hero. i wish it was windass and a couple of loanees.

Or as I put it the other day, the four most passionate falling out whilst disecting recent performances (or so has been reported). I'd be more inclined to be pleased at that than sack them all

Besides, I'm also inclined to believe Wardlelatics informative post and the accounts of those fans who were there, all of which suggest a mountain has been made out of a molehill.

Are you a journo by the way?

Just interested like as this was your 1st post since you joined in August 2008.

Seems a bit strange that you wait 7 months before posting, which may give the impression that you are a journo, surfing for a tasty story here there and everywhere. Maybe even looking for a bit of juicy rumour on LH.

Only an impression like. Not a fact.

Cheers,

Harry

Utterly amazing this/these "incidents"

The rumour mill has been in overdrive, and the fact Hughes was there has simply added fuel to the fire, moreso when you read the comments on the MEN site and the fact the viewing public decided he was guilty from the article alone!

What I do find strange is that there is not 1 single photo / mobile phone video of any of the altercations that are supposed to have taken place, nor any comments from fans' who attended.

Personally, I think it is a lot of smoke with little or no fire and most probably a case of a group of lads who let off some steam in the wrong way. Best way forward is to fine the main protagonists and move on.

Just read the Gregan expose...

This is the same Sean Gregan who is infamous throughout football for what he allegedly did in the Isle of Man one pre-season.

This is also the same Sean Gregan who was arrested a few months' ago for being drunk whilst driving (On the M62 on his way to training if memory serves me right?).

And now, it is the same Sean Gregan who is accused of confronting Taylor and also of exposing himself!

Rather than everyone turning on Sheridan, surely Gregan (Club Captain) should be responsible for the blame that is currently being bandied around?

This whole saga started on 4th March with the following post:

Well it all started off as a good night, players and fans in good spirit even won 30 quid :D but then unfortunately turned sour with an incident between a few of our players.

I went up to where the players where sat to be pushed back because there was some disagreement happening! Sheridan, Gregen and Hughes all came out of the room escorted by the bouncers who worked there, then Chris Taylor comes out in tears followed by the other players looking shocked.

Overheard a tale going on between a few of the players saying Sean Gregan had attacked Taylor for no apparent reason as they where all just having a laugh and a joke and that Sheridan and Lee Hughes both jumped in to protect him as Gregan had Taylor pinned up against the wall and had punched him!!!

Taylor seemed very shaken up by the whole incident as he appeared in tears. I just wonder what is going to happen to Sean Gregan now because surely this is no behaviour of a captain he should be leading a good example. I dont know what it was all over but the players where just saying it was a laugh between them all and should have no means resorted in voilence!!!

It seems that we have gone full circle.

By an amazing coincidence, tomorrow in Dublin I shall meet up with the composer of the Gregan song in ’97, and who would have thought that nearly twelve years later the song would get a second verse, which I've already written - just waiting for the result of the investigation.

In the Advertiser, Mike (Guernica) Keegan and Stuart Greer write:

Fans discussing the incident on the ‘Oh When The Blues’ (OWTB) web forum were also angry that the off-field controversy comes at a crucial point in the Latics’ bid to earn promotion from League One.

One disappointed fan labelled the players’ and manager’s alleged behaviour "a total joke and unprofessional", while another added, "They need their contracts ripping up".

Other supporters rued what could be the end of the side’s promotion hopes.

"Our season is over – no team spirit, no unity, no desire," one stated.
