RobOAFC
On trial with us tonight against City, possible return? Wouldn't be a bad back-up to Grounds at LB http://www.oldhamathletic.co.uk/news/article/20130429-reserveteam-798918.aspx

GravityGrave
Unless he's improved significantly I'd rather have truelove providing cover .
pukka
Matthew Whichelow is also in the squad. He should just become a linesman and have done with it.
MAC0AFC
i personally really liked paul black when he was at us, got stronger and stronger the more he played - didnt understand why we released him but would have grounds over him ANY DAY... good back up full back though
Ross2509
No! Diabolical footballer, was at fault for countless goals and him being released was one of the best things Dickov did
oafc1955
As back up to Grounds he'd be OK....he was a decent player for us and if Johnson can coach him better we could have good competition.
jbrown23
I reckon his wage demands would make him being a back up unlikely, and Grounds is far better so don't fancy having him back really

longtimeblue
I'd say no but also thought we were wrong to get Gregan back at the time. Be half decent as back-up but I'd rather just start again now.
4froale
cheap back up, will do.
Fervid
Would rather have Adam McGurk as I see he has also been released by Tranmere.
OAFC_Ryan
We do need a back up full back, I think we have the makings of a solid defence. M'voto and Grounds are class, Brown is improving every game and I think Glenn will be a good centre half when he matures, we could do with a leader like Gregan though, and I would be more that happy for Byrne to take this role if he wants to stay, of course. yarddogs
If he's not good enough for tranmere then he ain't good enough for us.
slystallone
I rate Black as a pretty decent L1 left back. Dickov brought in Evina & Diallo to replace him; but neither really managed it - and Black ended up winning his place back both times. As competiton anx back up to Grounds; on the right wage, i would have him back.

Not nearly as good as Grounds.

razza699
If he's not good enough for tranmere then he ain't good enough for us. This. But in LJ we trust and hopefully Black will have some passion for us.

Ross2509
:laught30: :laught30: :laught30: :laught30: :laught30: :laught30: :laught30: I know that Diallo was far from great but it just shows how poor I thought Paul Black was. His positioning is some of the worst I've seen from a full back in a Latics kit. When he got forward his crosses in we're dreadful (which Diallo was a lot better at) and even defending he was far from any good.
Ross2509
Is Paul Black even definitely on trial? Couldn't he just be playing for the reserves to keep his fitness up whilst he's looking for another club? Makes sense as he has been with the club for years

After Kuqi's first goal, did Diallo ever cross another ball in a Latics shirt?
beag_teeets
Black isn't one of the best fullbacks in the world but for me this thread is making me scratch my head why any young kid would want to play for us. He was a kid from our youth setup who was learning his trade in the first team, a Latics fan too yet like other young full backs Makin, Tierney and Eardley all went on to bigger things than us after being written off by so many at BP. Laticacid
Happily have him back, plenty to work on but he's got a nice touch, remember him getting a belter on last day of season a few years ago
