Recommended Posts

Well done on being a dick. Yawn.

Edit: actually, a couple of well known and liked posters on here recently have posted similar to what I put, so why not jump on them? Hm no balls because they are well liked?

Good one.

I have no idea who posts on here regularly or whos liked, but did you not feel a bit daft making the same joke knowing this?

Could be the fella you're referring to.

Could well be. He said something along the likes of 'aware of him, so is his Dad, but didn't think he was quite ready for 1st team football this season........but with another year behind him, I think he would be next year'.

At the 1st fans meeting, LJ mentioned he has a close friend who works for Stoke in the reserve set up.

He talked about picking up young players who would be released by big clubs, and getting them in, developing them etc.

He mentioned a young lad called Scott from Stoke, who plays attacking midfielder.

Sort of vague, but it could be that the one with no expeience at this level but has potential, quited in the Chron, is this lad?

I'm expecting a number of LJ's signings to have me going 'who?'.......but i also expect, from all LJ has said to date, for them to have been fully researched and them to be a 'right fit' for us.

I have mentioned that to a few people also.

When do the contracts officially expire?

Matt smith has just tweeted

Matt Smith@mattjpsmith26m

Bags are packed. LONDON bound. Looking forward to representing OAFC at the #facup final tomorrow and making a first trip to the new Wembley!

Is he representing Oldham because he is still under contract or could it be good news that he is staying on?

Think players contracts usually run until the 30th june unless they are released early. Could be wrong tho?

Representing us because he won player of the round whilst playing for us.

Still think he'll be off

Either that or Everton and Wigan have been fielding ineligible players and we've got a bye?

Going back to the Jonathan Stead thing, I've just been talking to a couple of workmates, both Brizzle City ST holders. They both said the same thing, namely that their season went downhill when Stead was injured. They said he's not a prolific striker but an intelligent player who will feed others.

Apparently, he has had a house built in the North, most likely in the Huddersfield area, as he wants his children to be near their grandparents as they (the children, not the grandparents) will be near or at school age. He's already said his goodbyes in Bristol and has tweeted that he was already heading North up the M1.

Both people I spoke to said that he is also very good with the younger players and helps them along in any way he can. He's a very nice bloke too and did a lot of work in the community.

So there you have it. Sorry if it's duplicated anything already posted and, now I've done the scouting, he'll probably sign for Udders!

Why where has Smith gone?

On a side note, heard today that Richard O'Kelly will be LJ's assistant. Just left Bristol City..

he only went to Bristol City this season though, will Johnson and Kelly have worked together in the past?

he fits the bill of an experienced head though.

Cool name

Excerpt from wiki below, for those who can't get to it

Richard Florence Jane O'Kelly (born 8 January 1957) is an English former footballer turned manager; who is Sean O'Driscoll's assistant manager at Championship side Bristol City.

He began his career at Walsall in 1979, as they won promotion into the Third Division in 1979–80, where they remained for his next six seasons at Fellows Park, during which time he scored 56 goals in 204 league games. He was sold on to Port Vale for a £6,000 fee in July 1986, before returning to Walsall on a free transfer January 1988. Helping the "Saddlers" to win promotion via the play-offs, he moved on to Grimsby Town, before retiring due to injury the following year.

After retiring due to injury in 1989 he took up coaching and has served as the assistant manager at Hereford United, Bournemouth, and Doncaster Rovers. He became a manager for the first time with Hereford United in March 2012, but quit the post two months later after the "Bulls" were relegated out of the Football League. He immediately returned to the number two role at former club Walsall.
