Announcement: Trust Oldham Fraud Case

Recommended Posts

The Oldham Chronicle has just released the story that Greater Manchester Police have arrested Michael Nuttall, in relation to an alleged fraud committed against Trust Oldham. As such, we felt it appropriate to put out this announcement.

Please note that any comments which we believe may impede the ongoing investigation, which may well end up being heard in Crown Court, will be removed from OWTB. Any comments which are potentially defamatory will also be removed from the site; this will not be reflective of whether we believe a statement to be true or false (it's not for us to judge), only whether we believe it would be defamatory should it not be true. The site, and by definition its staff, could be held liable for publishing any comments that were found to be defamatory and none of us get paid enough to take that risk!

We would advise anyone who believes that they may be called as a witness in the investigation to refrain from commenting on OWTB, in relation to this issue.

Cheers

The OWTB team

The post will remain open, as all do, for as long as the OWTB community are willing to abide by the rules set forth.

If people break the rules we will deal with that and if there's en masse breaking then of course we will lock the thread.

Hopefully it will not come to that.

Can anyone confirm if this would have been made public knowledge if the Chron had not got hold of the story.

All cases that go to court are in the public domain. If they don't go then it's normally because there isn't enough evidence for a verdict of guilt.

It's up to the police to decide whether to announce charges.

Remember people are innocent until the point of conviction and lives can be ruined by arrests that don't lead to one.

He has been charged and is going to the Magistrates Court on Tuesday. Another had been investigated but was released without charge.

I'd like to echo this. A lot of us on here will know or have met Mike and not have a bad word to say, lets not leap to conclusions.

Deleted his FB account now it seems.

I've always found him to be quite a decent guy. What exactly is it he is alleged to have done? Written cheques out he shouldn't have done or something?
