OAFC_Ryan Posted February 20, 2014 Posted February 20, 2014 Will be returning to the club. LJ's new assistant? OldhamAthleticAFC @OfficialOAFC 7 mins Lee Johnson also confirmed that former assistant manager Tommy Wright is returning to the club as part of the backroom staff. Quote
Zorrro Posted February 20, 2014 Posted February 20, 2014 Why wouldn't they just say that in the tweet, though? Quote
OAFC_Ryan Posted February 20, 2014 Author Posted February 20, 2014 What else could he be doing? Someone with experience, anyhow. Quote
HarryBosch Posted February 20, 2014 Posted February 20, 2014 Great news. The tweet in question took some finding. We don't even hashtag club tweets with #oafc. Truly unbelievable. Quote
Zorrro Posted February 20, 2014 Posted February 20, 2014 What else could he be doing? Dunno, just seems strange that they wouldn't say something like "former assistant manager Tommy Wright is returning to the club in his previous capacity." Quote
OAFC_Ryan Posted February 20, 2014 Author Posted February 20, 2014 Dunno, just seems strange that they wouldn't say something like "former assistant manager Tommy Wright is returning to the club in his previous capacity." Didn't LJ have a spell with Chesterfield when Shez and Wright were there? Probably knows him from that, could be a coach like Muzza. Quote
oafc1955 Posted February 20, 2014 Posted February 20, 2014 Was Tommy Wright sacked along with Shez or did he stay on for a while? Quote
lalalajpkalala Posted February 20, 2014 Posted February 20, 2014 Was Tommy Wright sacked along with Shez or did he stay on for a while? Stayed on alongside Joe and then went to Chesterfield with Shez in the summer that we brought in Penney, Gray etc. Quote
Diego_Sideburns Posted February 20, 2014 Posted February 20, 2014 MEN say Tommy Wright is here until end of season, when a new backroom structure is to be put in place. Quote
Blue_Guru Posted February 20, 2014 Posted February 20, 2014 Chron says replacing Bobby Mimms...this would suggest to me that we will keep Chubs on as a number 2 keeper and coach...makes sense to offer chubs a bit more money as a player coach and then to bring Tommy in as a number 2 with Murray concentrating on the reserves and drafting in the youth... Quote
yarddog73 Posted February 20, 2014 Posted February 20, 2014 just what was needed may prove to be the best bit of buisness the clubs done for a while, take some pressure of LJ and an experianced head around the place who he can bounce ideas off, dont really know murray in a coaching capacity but suspect wright might just add a bit more to the team. Zorrro Posted February 20, 2014 Posted February 20, 2014 Is he a tracksuit coach or a suit? Cos whichever it is is the wrong one. Quote
GlossopLatic Posted February 20, 2014 Posted February 20, 2014 Is he a tracksuit coach or a suit? Cos whichever it is is the wrong one. He has a tracksuit and watches the game from the side of the pitch occasionally giving instructions occasionally standing still like 99% of assistant managers which clearly means he does nothing. slystallone Posted February 20, 2014 Posted February 20, 2014 Is he a tracksuit coach or a suit? Cos whichever it is is the wrong one. ....and I know he has experience; but is it the right kind of experience? Quote
