If any of you fancy a chuckle....

From a quick scan of that, discounting the odd idiot, just like you have to do on here, they seem a sensible and decent bunch, again, just like on here.

I think we're all of the opinion that if you were going into the Rochdale ends, you needed to be respectful; sensible and keep your heads down.

Check out Luckers1 posts in the Trouble thread on here for the perfect examples of that. Made it clear they were Oldham, but behaved impeccably and receieved no issues.

Sorry to say, but if you behave like a goon whilst sat with home supports in their own stand, you run a very real risk of something happening to you. I'm not condoning that at all; in terms of excusing the violence that happened, but - still, plenty of other groups of Oldhams fans were able to sit on their hands and keep a low profile without any trouble as a result.

Possibly a general statement here; but is it much of push to say those that experienced the violence may have been seeking it in the 1st place?

Anyway, back to the actual game: cracking win wasn't it?!?!?!?

It makes me laugh how they claim that they couldn't care less about us, yet that's the most home fans they've had in Spotland for years and every topic relating to the game goes on for page after page! :laught30:

http://www.fansnetwork.co.uk/members/rochdale/forum/131871/ched-evans/#14. For a club that doesn't care about us, they sure do go on an awful lot. I suppose most of that comes through bitterness, though.

99.9% of Oldham fans behaved and 99.9% of Rochdale fans behaved.

I don't think it would've been much different had it been in reverse (i.e. them bringing 4,000 to our ground when they only had 3,500 tickets). We'd be reacting the same on this forum.

This

Most of them are talking sense.

They do seem to think they are all a bunch of angels (I know as a fact that Dale have not been - fighting outside my mate's house vs Bury springs to mind). Otherwise I don't think their board seems ok.

In which alternate universe might that happen?

Saturday showed why they're not really rivals. They're a small club who we haven't played much. They're local, sure, but so are Stalybridge and Halifax. Granted, given how our crowds keep going down, we might end up playing them more often than we'd like (and then down to Halifax and Vegas!), but we're not quite there yet.

They say they don't care much for us, but they're fairly consistent with calling us Biffo's.

Still don't think there is a rivalry there, but maybe a few more atmospheres like Saturday's and one might start. Can't see as much trouble at BP, no way the police will let us share the RRE.

Can't see them bringing many also.

Course they will. You get a few feet between Rangers and Celtic fans. It'll just mean we pay for it.

If results carry on, I don't think the Chaddy and Main stand will be enough.

Have a look on that, my god there are some bitter bastards on there.

The Rochdale fans seem quite reasonable, but in the "Oldham Fans" thread the "Latics Supporter" calling him/herself Oldham Ultras is a cringing embarrassment.

Quote:

"How any of you inbreds can slate the oldham massive goes beyond me! We well and truly took over spotland, pyro and singing for 90 minutes. You wont bring half as many to us.

We Are The Oldham We do What We Want!!"

The Oldham Ultras tag, the talk of pyro and "singing for 90 minutes" pretty much gives it away that it's an Athletico!

Even those of us not from Oldham

There won't be much trouble at Oldham because they won't bring 3200+ or even half that. The cops will justify their presence by being a bit heavy-handed. The RRE will be away fans only. Plus there is a good chance the game will be on a Tuesday night, at a time when lots of people don't have much money.

The media are keen to point the finger of blame at us, but they are ignoring that it takes two sides to start trouble, I wasn't there but why did it start in the Regal Moon, who threw the first chair? Furthermore the police escort up to the ground was treating a lot of sensible Oldham fans who aren't looking for trouble, but just so happened to be drinking in the same town centre pub as those who were, as children. If you treat grown men like children don't be surprised to see them act like it, there's probably some clever anthropological name for it.

All the talk on here before the game was those fans who were going in the home stands just so they could watch it. Lots of those looking for tickets (if genuine) probably went in there. The majority behaved themselves and acted appropriately. The others well the footage shows for itself. The game should have been all-ticket, the moment we sold out with weeks to spare, in fact actually if Rochdale weren't so cheap and did proper seating arrangements, we might not have sold out. Rochdale wanted the extra money, and GMP were too naive to make them change their minds. You won't hear that from the media though as the great Police PR machine has already started rolling and Oldham, and it's fans, are the ones ear-marked for blame.

nothing ever gets said about the police being heavy handed I personally saw a teenage latics fan who was obviously worse wear take him out the escourt to be sick he was promptly follow by two of the gmp's finest thugs in uniform pushed to a near by wall and ragged about whilst be yelled at like a poorly treated dog, me being the drunken samaritan took it upon myself to question the behavior of these two men of the law and was met by verbal abuse, finger jabs to the adam's apple and put back in to escourt with the threat of anymore behavior of that nature would be meet with a removal order or an afternoon in the cells.

wankers the lot of um :ranting:

Whilst I understand comments about over zealous policing and stewarding (and there are lines that they shouldn't ever cross) I think you have to be pragmatic in these circumstances.

There are a good number of large groups of lads that are drunk, in a pretty volatile atmosphere, and it has started to spill into violence in a few small places. In that set of circumstances, the police are vastly outnumbered and if (and it has the potential to do so) the small scale violence escalates to larger numbers people then the police have a very dangerous situation on their hands.

The ejection or man-handling of a few drunk / irrate / football fans is a price I think they would accept. Worse case scenario, there are a few drunk / angry fans that miss the end of the game, or even have to have a converstaion at a police station before being let go. Its very easy to not get yourself into this position - keep away from it, keep out of it, let them police and stewards do their job and watch the game.

Of course there will be situations where the Police over step the line - when that happens, report it.
