So, yet again we balance the books (new stand aside)? Is that true? If so, when was the last time we lost money? Does anyone have the figures for the last five years?

The year we mad a 400k profit was the year we sold Tarky Baxter Korey Smith and JCH and played Liverpool at Anfield

Last year we had no cup run and sold Knowone I would imagine we made a loss ditto this year up until now.

I would imagine we might start to see the activity on the stand increase over the next month or so and we get a free transfer or a loan or 2 the rest will pay the overheads.

Those 'in the know' ie on Twitter are suggesting 30% sell-on clause.

Suggestion on radio was at least £6.5million.

If those two are accurate then sell-on valued c£1.95million.

Knowing our luck its actually 10% and £2million

David Dunn tweeted that we'll be delighted so presumably a fair wedge?!

It's never gonna be 30%. The mere suggestion of it is daft. No buyer would agree to that

20% would be nice, but even that is a bit optimistic, after all, Tarky was a fully fledged first teamer when we sold him, not a 14 year old kid like Richards.

10% sounds about right.

Even more reason for 20%.

It depends how you look at it. Tarky's future potential would be easier to predict than a 14 year old kid's. Brentford were making an investment in a player who would improve their team, but mostly to sign a player who could have a bigger sale value in the future, a higher sell on clause makes the deal less valuable to them and for a league one team who were already stumping up 350k as a fee (and other potential add ons (promotion, etc), they'll have certainly had a limit of what sell on fee they deem still offers value for the fee they are paying upfront. Also, you have to factor in that we're not in a great position to play hard ball with these deals, it's not a case where the deal is done on the sellers terms or it doesn't go ahead, business just doesn't work like that, especially for a club like us.

If we get anything it wont get through to playing budget. Instead of replying on past players being sold on we should try to make money by playing football - trying a bit harder in the FA cup and getting 1 big team in one round would get us more than this deal

To be fair to Corney he's never short of stating how important cup runs are. It's not like we go out of them on purpose. Sheff Utd away ain't an easy obstacle to over come.

An away tie at Liverpool bagged us £250k.

Tarky played football and made us more money than that.
