This is great news

If the purpose of the new stand was to create income for the new financial rules under which Latics play then this is exactly the sort of regular income a commercial manager could only dream of. It is also a great boost to the beer / catering franchises and frankly a win-win situation for one and all.

Assuming OAFC get the money owed and continue to get the money.

Why is everybody ignoring the point about summer time pitch renovation?

It's not rocket science when it comes to this issue. Wigan Warriors requested games to be played away from home when the pitch was been renovated. They had a cup tie against hull KR which, was played at Leigh Sports village I'm sure Oldham could use white bank for a few games against teams who don't travel well if need be.

They would need a training pitch and there is also the reserves / junior rugby league teams to consider too. Little Wembley would not cope with all that so it would make sense to keep Whitebank.

I doubt whether they could use a ground that has been deemed unsuitable for the league

Isn't it funny how opinions change?

Only a few years back, the rugby were criticised for being the main cause of our pitch problems. Every week in the Chaddy, you'd hear moans and groans about the Bears or the Roughyeds 'wreckin' the f'in pitch'.

One promotion later, and there's a strong support for their return.

Personal opinion? The football is bad enough on grass. It won't get any better on sand and mud. And if rent is still owed from years gone by, it's a no no.

Congrats to the rugby, though. It's about time the town celebrated sporting success again.
