Corney

Done my questions asking pal. As has Prozac. Don't worry...we've been one or two of the longest concerned/moaning/shouting/critical posters. He will have more usernames (as the discern grows and grows) for his next interview when some more bad news is trotted out of the club. If you keep on cutting your cloth, you won't have any cloth in the end. That's been our message all along and Corney keeps on proving us right. The ever-decreasing circle gets smaller and smaller.

Any response from yarddog73 or ChaddySmoker?

Shoot me down but I genuinely feel sorry for Corney.

He's a lower league football owner similar to the majority of football club owners. Expenditure is greater than income each season (unless you're lucky to break even or make a small profit) and you have to wheel and deal to keep your head above water financially.

Add to this that only six teams from twenty-four can finish in play-off or promotion position and fortunately only four from that remaining eighteen can finish in relegation. Fourteen teams finish in mid-table obscurity. This leaves a lot of fans from those clubs outside the top six being frustrated or disappointed come May. With our dwindling fan base and minimal off-field income, opportunity to seriously invest in the playing squad is near impossible so we will inevitably struggle at the bottom of the table.

He's openly trying to sell the club and yes the owners want to recoup some of their investment in land, stand etc but who can blame them?

If he sat back syphoning thousands from the club then he deserves the :censored: thrown at him. However the only thing he's guilty of his countless decisions that have backfired or not borne fruit, which he openly admits in the interview.

The one thing his snipers have overlooked conveniently from the interviews is the truth that the likes of Tranmere, Stockport, Doncaster etc have competed over the years on par to or above us in the league but all are currently in leagues below us. We've consistently remained in this league whilst sources of income have declined.

It's easy to criticise the bloke for not throwing money at the club or not writing off all the millions spent to sell to new owners but none of that would have come from those sniper's pockets. We have no right to be successful...trying to achieve success is luck at this level despite all the business strategies, marketing campaigns and offers to entice fans through the door and boost attendances.

I do believe him when he says he's a fan of the club. Perhaps whoever takes up the challenge to meet him asks him exactly what the sale price is. Corney has stated it's way off the millions being suggested and that the condition of sale is that new owners can take the club forward. Perhaps people's frustration for success should be rewarded with another Chris Moore arriving and gambling with the future existence of the club?!

FFS to all the moaners and whingers, stop hiding on here and in this forum and go and take SC up on his offer. Be brave enough to speak to him face to face instead of always sniping on here.

Isn't it true what he said about the likes of Doncaster, Notts County, and even worse Stockport and Tranmere? Or is he lying about that too?

For the record he wasn't blaming the fans at all. He made it crystal clear that only a small number were insistent on being negative continually and that 99% of supporters were fantastic.

To all the armchair experts I say go and have a chat with him, he can hardly turn people away now after his offer in the interview. I'm sure he could enlighten you into just how much hard work goes into running the football club, that is if you are open to listening instead of sticking to your pre-conceived ideas.

Did he mention Burton, Fleetwood, Rochdale, Rotherham, AFC Wimbledon, MK Dons, etc..

Where were these clubs in size and stature before he took over? AFC Wimbledon have worked their way up from the bottom to overtake us in 10 years granted we are no Tranmere or Stockport but we could well be next and both get crowds better or on par with what we get now, Tranmere pulled in a couple of hundred short of 8000 last week, when can we claim a crowd approaching 8000 for a League game? Yesterday's interview emphasised one thing and that's the height of our ambition to stay in League 1, in recent years we had one season where we over achieved in the chairman's eyes and what was his reaction to letting Johnson go when we were flirting with the play offs? He told us live on GMR that he thought we had enough points to stay up, since then it's been one thing after another or as another poster likes to put it ever decreasing.

As I said last night - there are only two automatic promotions each year. That leaves 22 frustrated teams of which 4 would welcome mid table over relegation. Every club would relish promotion but the majority of the clubs in our league remain in our league or are relegated. Unless your fanbase is greater or you have a benefactor (Fleetwood, MK Dons, Burton) or immensely fortunate with the blend of effective manager, effective players (AFC Wimbledon & Burton) then you'll always be struggling.

To remain in this league despite TV money and other revenues reducing is an achievement that needs recognised rather than criticised!

Corney would happily step aside if a new owner could take the club forward with deeper pockets than him. In his tenure he's been let down by managers and players who promise success but fail to deliver - that's the story of the majority of the clubs at this level where smaller budgets means success if less probable...then again larger budgets don't guarantee success either as the likes of Sheffield United has proven over the seasons.

Yes Blitz wants most of his investment back but so would you. He invested for success, it didn't happen so he's seeking someone to take over who can succeed. He's invested in land and the stand and whoever buys the club will inherit this so it's only fair that pay the going rate.

Fans bitterness is aimed unfairly at Corney because they need an outlet for their anger. Corney wants success just as much as us along with attractive football but without breaking the bank. He could have paid over the odds for Steve Evans but we would now be in a much worse place financially - if someone could guarantee that Steve Evans would have delivered success in comparison to Robbo then perhaps that gamble would have been worthwhile.

Last point; Corney again has opened the door for fans to speak with him, analyse the books and discuss plans - surely that's the Trust Representatives role? They get insight into all this and relay back to the fans if all is well from a fans perspective or build bridges so fans and owner work together for the future of the club?!

The troll is a selective beast only seeing what it wants to see or hear.

Corney praised the 99% of the fans who support the club at home or away. He did not blame most of the fans. He did ask for those who shout abuse to consider what it is they say which is a reasonable point.

Corney admitted to having made mistakes.

Corney explained that late payment is a feature of league 1 but that monies will be paid. Clearly the £300k in wages and taxes rank rather higher in the order of things.

Corney pointed out that money is tight because of the season ticket offer and the offer of the lowest ticket prices in league 1.

Corney committed to finding the money if Robbo needs to add to the squad.

Corney is actively looking for someone to take over the club - anyone want to take two trips to China in a fortnight?

Corney explained that he believes Robbo will get it right and that we have a good management/coaching team in place.

In what way is this a man who isn't taking responsibility?

In what way is this a man who doesn't want the best for our club?
