Micky Mellon Sack Watch

Absolutely!!😂

I wouldn’t mind so much and would be willing to give him a fair crack of the whip if we were progressing and showing signs that he’s building something.

He’s only had 6 months admittedly but I just don’t see a plan, a style of play or even a settled system!

In the main they’re not his players but even the players he’s recruited haven’t improved things at all.

I’m willing to bet that the lions share of this squad barring one or two would do OK at just about any other NL side in this division!

We’re definitely under performing as a team and IMO it just doesn’t look like he has the remotest idea of how to rectify it!

Serious question…..If it was your money bankrolling this football club, would you trust Micky Mellon to spend it wisely?

I’m not sure I would!

Frank is obviously a very shrewd businessman and I'd trust his judgement over the other members of the board and any manager he employs,

The way things are going, at some stage, I can see a time when he'll be much more hands on as to what's being spent on the playing side of things and who can blame him.

Can you imagine the amount of finger pointing there'd be right now,  if Alan Sugar was here instead of Frank 😉

Is it not arrogant to think Parkinson would want to come here anyway? It's a sideways step at best. He could probably get a job at a league 2 side with fans who won't hound him out after a few months

He's always been very complimentary about us in his interviews saying we're a massive club etc - sure he'd jump at the chance if approached.

Unless he decides to quit I think we're going to find out if Mellon can take us forward next season. Can't be worse than this season can it?

I remember a lot of fans saying the same. Be the same clowns that are moaning like little girls now. It’s tedious.

I just wonder if Frank ever knew what he thought he was about to save?

We all know he's the greatest fan this club has ever had but even he shouldn't of let sentiment get in the way.

If we're totally pissed off with the way things are panning out via inept manager's and player's, who can't be arsed to put in a proper shift,  just take a moment to reflect on what might be going through his head right now.

Maybe a bit unfair on Altrincham that

In reality, we shouldn't even be mentioned in the same sentence but here we are and it's a very bitter pill to have to keep swallowing.

He hasn't had time to "build" anything though has he. He's had a January transfer window. He needs summer to do proper recruitment with far more choice

Are we underperforming as a team. Everyone keeps saying all the players are shit

Of course we are underperforming!

Apart from the obvious culprits, individually these players can’t all be shit but collectively, as a team, they undoubtedly are, and that has to be in some part, down to the manager.

In my mind after 6 months we should be able to at least be starting to see what a Mellon team is likely to look like……however, at this stage l have absolutely no idea!

It would undoubtedly help if he kept as settled a side as possible instead of tinkering with formations and personnel every bloody week!

We obviously need a few players in certain positions to improve us but he did say himself at the end of January that he was ‘more than happy with what he had yet these last few weeks have been a disaster!

It seemed to go wrong after several players were banished, I wonder of this affected team spirit thinking who was next?

I don’t get this banished nonsense, dock their pay if not performing.  Make them earn their money.

They’re under contract, can’t do anything about it!

The goals conceded by teams in this league is incredible, hardly anyone has a tight defence.

The lesson for MM next season is to go for goals rather then 7 at the back.

Same faults that we have had for a while too many square pegs in round holes, and too many players who cant play two games a week. A squad hat has a lack of balance in key areas. Pretty obvious the right players were not available in the last transfer window . Lets see what he does with a full pre season .

Agreed. There's plenty to criticise Mellon for but I think blaming the recruitment on him is unfair, January recruitment is always difficult as you're essentially getting players who can't make the cut elsewhere/are inexperienced/coming back from injury unless you're prepared to pay daft transfer fees. That's not a bad thing if you only need one or two players to bulk the squad up but we needed 4/5/6 players to come in and hit the ground running, which just isn't realistic. Hopefully he can get it right over the summer with more/better options

I remember Mellon saying he wouldn’t be wasting Frank’s money.
Well….we got 6 players in who’ve hardly featured and who haven’t even hit the ground never mind started running, and have made no difference whatsoever.

No problem, he gets to bring another 10 in this summer, what could possibly go wrong...?

Worked for Chesterfield who've looked very shaky defensively to me but are happy to play two at the back in possession rather than our usual five.

I don't know about that. Stones was excellent and we were unlucky he got injured. Garner got some important goals when he came in. Conlon has been disappointing but has had some good games. Dallas and Walker, fair enough. But again, that's the risk you take recruiting in January. It was poor recruitment last summer that put us in that position in the first place.

Doesn’t that apply to any clutch of signings at anytime?

There’s nothing to suggest that signing in the summer will mean more of them work. I’d say if you sign any group of players, a couple do really well, a couple do ok, and a couple don’t work out.
