There were several people welling up yesterday. I'm not surprised after some of the performances we've seen. I was one of the 80 at Notts last week and I felt like crying after that one. Football is an emotional game and for some of our fans they have never seen anything like yesterday before.

So we had 4 players over the age of 24. Hardly a big difference.

With all the media stating that only 2 Liverpool players were over the age of 23, what are the ages of the latics players from yesterday?

I know how you feel and I send all my sympathies. My own father died on the way home from BP on 25 Sep 2001 after we had just beaten Bury 4 - 0. Every time I go to BP now I look at where we used to sit in the main stand paddock and think of him.

I'm a season ticket holder and applaud the club for taking the initiative. The only compensation I want is for the team to start winning.

I went to the game. I thought that it was a terrific away performance. We were resolute and when we needed to (Last 10 mins), played some good football. If Wes had gone down in their area at the close we would have had a penalty. He was too honest. All they did was lump the ball over the top for Wright-Plillips to run onto. I detect the taste of sour grapes from their fans. It's really good to wind someone up like this. To be fair, I've also read one or two fair comments on their sites as well.

Only football can do this to you. The pain of a Grimsby fan after their 5-0 thrashing at Braintree. Firstly thank you for having the balls and decency to speak to the shell shocked fans in the car park last night. You deserve some credit for taking the time to do so when really you should have been on the coach hiding your heads in shame. The problem is that you will never understand the hurt, the anger, the embarrassment that Town fans are feeling, and have been feeling for the last 5-10 years. Yes you are embarrassed and ashamed by last night, but you haven't wasted your hard earned money or your spare time to witness that; you will still get paid at the end of the week. I just wish you could be made to understand what it feels like to have your team constantly let you down and disappoint you season after season after season. Each new low is reached and every time we are told ' the manager is hurting, the players are hurting, we'll put it right, this won't happen again'. And guess what? Us suckers believe you and reassure each other that this is the lowest of the low, it can't get any worse and this could be the turning point. And unbelievably every time, you and your predecessors manage to contrive to produce an even more shocking result/performance. A few years ago an awful town team under AB got stuffed at Gillingham and I thought that was bad. Christ that sort of result seems a mini nirvana now. After that we got stuffed on a freezing January night at Torquay (Torquay ffs! we said). Can't get much worse though? Fast forward to late in the year and we get thrashed 4-0 in the snow at Dagenham (Dagenham ffs! we said). That's the worst it's ever been we said. One year later and in a totally unprofessional showing we are stuffed 3-0 by relegation rivals Barnet (Barnet ffs! we said). we then lose at home to bath City (Bath City ffs! we said) but as a result of this and other awful performances still appoint Neil Woods as manager. Woods then guides us to a record breaking 25 game winless streak (25 games ffs! we said) which ends in a 4-0 thrashing at Burton (Burton ffs! we said) in the most important game in the clubs recent history. We are relegated after 100 proud years in the league (non league ffs! we said) aah well at least it can't get any worse. Oh but never fear GTFC can mange it! Within 3 months we're losing at home to part time Hayes and Yeading (Hayes and who? ffs we said). Even after that we hadn't turned a corner losing a series of matches to assorted postmen, butchers and firemen etc; the culmination being a defeat at lowly little Chasetown (Chasetown ffs! we said) .ah well it can't get any worse than this we said .But lo and behold you have managed to trump it with our heaviest defeat for donkeys years against the formidable Braintree, which sent us BOTTOM of the feckin BSP FFS!! And I tell you what, I still don't believe that you can't go even lower, because somehow you inept bunch of losers and wasters will capitulate again I don't believe you anymore than I believe your predecessors as managers and players because they've all spouted the same old drivel and the end results are always the same - a continuing downward spiral you new 2 came here with a win ratio of 2 in 3 .what the feck has happened? You've won 2 in 12 with 1 of the most generous budgets in the nonleague game. You had 2-3 months to get used to fulltime management, to the BSP and to sort the wheat from the chaff. So we forgave you the rubbish we saw at the end of last season. Because you wanted your own players, who you got and you got them early so you could have a full pre season to drill them the way you wanted them. You told us all those brave words about how the bad old days were behind us, and that we'd see constant efforts from players who wouldn't give up and would give their all and would give a better account of themselves that the dross we've previously had. And guess what? We're 2 games into the season and you're already having to apologise for the performance (or non performance) of YOUR players. The same apologies you were giving at the end of last season; the same apologies that Neil Woods gave, the same spiel we heard from Mike Newell and Alan Buckley and no doubt we'll be hearing from you again in the near future and nothing ever changes. You keep bollocking teem and telling us how it’s unacceptable and how it won't be allowed to happen again and NOTHING EVER CHANGES. You were the men who were seemingly happy to let a 28 goal a season striker go, coz we've now got 5 different options up front. Well guess what - they've scored a total of NIL goals, we've got a powder puff midfield which has been par for the course for the last 5-10 years and a defence that looks totally at sea as soon as they're put under any sort of pressure. No change there then and you wonder why we don't believe you, why we are so cynical and negative, and why we criticise so quickly. We’ll carry on, coz like one of the lads said to you last night it won't be long before you're working as dustmen and warehousemen. As he said it won't be long before you're performing in front of Boston size crowds, as everyone is sick to the back teeth of hearing and seeing the same old Shiite. I'll be renewing my season ticket and my son (who is a student) will be getting one for the first time.

When the second goal went in I went so crazy that I accidentally punched my son in the eye. He still carried on celebrating though. He couldn't have been too injured as he ran a 10k road race on Sunday.
