    First game of the season for me yesterday, we look a pale shadow of the team from the back end of last season. Gardiner was good, McGlaughlin was good and Holloway played well also... well apart from the fact he has little or no goal threat. The rest were dog shit.

    I like McLaughlin, certainly the player we saw towards the end of last season. But if an offer of £600K came in we'd be stupid not to take it, especially if it brought in the likes of Ripley and Douglas. I'd much rather get rid of Flynn though as he's just bobbins.

    Personally I have nothing against the Athleticos, and from what I've read from them it's not their flag. The thing is just embarrassing and shouldn't be displayed at any game, or anywhere for that matter. Giving terrorists of any sort, on any side any kind of recognition is just plain wrong in my book, and certainly has no place in football.

    But could he be an even better player if he was properly fit? I wouldn't mind betting clubs higher up the leagues would have a look at him if he looked a bit more like a pro footballer.

    Not unhappy with this, but I still think we need a Luke Beckett/Lee Hughes type goal poacher. Don't suppose we can afford one of them though, so we'll have to hope Shez can get 15 goals out of Davies.

    Had the pleasure of talking to Gordon on many occasions, he was a lovely man. One of those unsung heros of our club who will be sadly missed around the place I'm sure. Condolences to family, friends, and colleagues at BP. RIP Gordy.

    They seem to be going shit or bust next season for sure. They announced a loss of £2.5M for the last financial year and have a wage bill of £4M before this weeks signings (obviously some players will be leaving this summer but...) that has to be one of the higher wage bills in L1! And somehow they still managed to finish below us.

    Same for me, I'd add City to that list as well as we played them a few times around that period. Who could ever forget Roger Palmer's hat trick at Maine Road when we smashed them 4-1. I gave my mates so much shit over that result!

    Matt Done would do, it's not worked out for him at a big club but worth a punt for us surely.

    Where did I say it didn't? It doesn't help player confidence wherever it happens. The likes of Peter Clarke etc. seem to be able to ignore it and get in with the job, others however don't have the same balls and will to win

    I think one of the issues with this is that as soon as this type of player makes a mistake (particularly at BP) there's a massive groan from the stands and it makes them think twice about sticking the head above the parapet again! Rather than it being coached out of them, it's us sitting in the stands that knocks confidence out of our players at times.
