  1. Interesting. Muzza mustn't rate Millwall's forwards all that much.
  2. Could be worse, at least it's someone a bit different. A chance to test ourselves against a higher standard of opposition. We looked decent until late on against Derby last year if I remember correctly, no reason we can't catch Boro cold early in their season.
  3. Looks like I've been just one goal out about 4/5 times so far. Fine margins in the international game.
  4. I wouldn't say that. Step backward for James Wesolowski, but that's his problem. We'll find someone else, he's just another ex player that left for a wedge of cash now.
  5. http://www.amazon.co.uk/s/ref=nb_sb_noss_1?url=search-alias%3Daps&field-keywords=bush+hat Don't forget the Playershare web shop...
  6. They score goals...always going to help in tournament football.
  7. Entered. England sneak through ahead of Italy on goals scored but lose on penalties to Colombia after an entertaining 2-2 draw in the second round. Bosnia are the surprise quarter finalists. Brazil v Argentina in the final. Brazil winning of course.
  8. I'd like to think they sung it to their next English visitors and then sat back, awaiting the praise that was undoubtedly due to them for memorising a traditional English folk song.
  9. This isn't really a story about spotting players away from football, but it's a close-season type of story that doesn't warrant its own thread. I went to Wadi Rum in Jordan last year and whilst in the visitors' centre a local spotted the Zinedine Zidane t-shirt I was wearing and started talking to me: "French? Real Madrid?" "No, I'm English" "Ah! Manchester?" "No, a small team, you probably won't know them" "No, tell me! I love the Premier League and Manchester United!" "Oldham Athletic" He furrowed his brow for just a second before his face lit up.. "Ah! Scholesy's team!" I couldn't believe it. A man had just trotted upto the visitors' centre, tied his camel up, walked inside and had a brief conversation about Latics. It really is a global game. Oh and I also made a :censored: of myself talking to Dale Stephens in Tokyo Project once.
  10. I like the idea of brick cladding. I think the Oldham Arena plans had that feature.
  11. People moaning about people moaning about people moaning. It's like Inception.
  12. That's the calling card of a hard nut like him, I seem to remember him scrapping for his Ma's caravan in Snatch.
  13. I don't think it's a booking. The officials should check equipment prior to kick off and substitutions and not allow any player to enter the field of play without adequate equipment. If he's playing without shinpads then it's the ref/lino/fourth official who have made the mistake.
  14. I like the Timbers, they're probably my favourite MLS side. They just seem to get it a bit more than a lot of the others. Though to be fair that league is really kicking on in general.
  15. I think you're onto something there. When strikers come to BP and we give them pelters they always score. Re-sign Porter, continue to rain expletives upon him, we win the league thanks to Porter's 46 league goals.
  16. It's tough to make these judgements now though. They've got two half-formed plans, so we don't know any details. I would imagine the loan system could still be utilised, albeit less so. For example if the B league was squeezed below Div 4 Premier League teams might want their youngsters to spend a year at a higher level before entering their own first teams. I'm just hypothesizing but this could mean a reduction in the number of short term loans but a smarter use of long term loans. As I say though, we just don't know until they show us a plan.
  17. I liked that. Admittedly I wasn't around in the 1970s but despite all the dark times I'm fairly sure the sun shone occasionally. It's nice to see it represented in a painting of that era.
  18. How do you see it pushing Latics further away from promotion to the Premier League?
  19. There are definitely moaners in the Main Stand. Plenty of them. But that goes for every stand in every ground in the country, I like the Main Stand, it's :censored:, old and I've seen better toilet facilities in Denshaw but I like it. I'm still undecided whether that or the new stand will be my home in the future though, I think for the time being I'll flit between in order to decide.
  20. The official account is very well run. Screengrabs from Player to promote interviews etc. Impressive.
  21. Aye I went to a whisky night recently where the chap told us that Aldi's whisky comes from the top distilleries in Scotland. The terms of whatever deal they have however dictates that they can't specify which on the bottle, so they sell at low prices. It's a cracking shop.
  22. Surely they're better than trips to London or the South West on Tuesday nights?
