Why not send your ideas to Alan/Simon and volunteer your services for the next stages... taking the branding forward for example? You make the design process sound so simple, especially when the word FREE i used.

Give me a week and I'll come up with alternatives - not that anyone 'up there' will bat an eyelid. I came up with quite a few kit designs a few weeks ago that generally received positive reactions. I haven't really posted since but this has made my blood boil. Old men with old views of the modern world was never going to produce anything pretty.

Right, I've had time to digest this new 'revelation', and I too can't be arsed scrolling back a couple of dozen pages to see if it's already been said. But here's my two penneth anyway.

The club didn't need a frigging rebrand. The previous club crest only dated back to 1983, is perfectly fine, in fact, one of the better ones in the league IMO and preferrable to the traditional town crest which loads of clubs have and all look the same. For the last couple of seasons I've just felt myself drifting further and further away, attending less and less games. I still enjoy it sometimes on a matchday, still go along but a bit curmudgeonly like, and it may look like a bit of a moan but to me it's an unneccesary step towards the Americanisation of what the game is becoming.

It's hideous, and as if I didn't like the design enough, the bright spark who jumped on Photoshop to design it, uses the same horrible serif font as Oldham Council use on their branding. Oldham Athletic isn't a brand, it's a passion and almost a religion to some. It's not going to attract more fans, or drag us into the modern era; the last crest could have done that and for plenty more years to come.

It's just :censored:. And I dislike it a lot. I'm changing my avatar now in protest.

I don't think alternatives are the way to go, what's the point, it's already been decided. The skill and more difficult part is applying the branding onto other materials... posters, mugs, stickers, billboards, bus sides, brand an aeroplane, will it work on a TV advert etc.

a lot of pisstaking already from other teams fans on Twitter :(

That doesnt matter, they were the same when we signed Lee Hughes, or got the plastic pitch!

Not everyone will be a fan, im not a massive fan of it, but looking at it from a marketing perspective i think it should have incorporated an owl and a ball, thats the norm!

any advertisement is a form of marketing.. we're discussing a 'branding' right now in the new badge and how everything needs to be taken forward with it so its a complete brand of the football club and not an isolated one.. a bigger example could be Apple with all the products they have.. the brand is Apple and with the logo its instantly regconisable as a trusted brand..

We're surrounded by branding and marketing most of time wherever you are.. apart from Latics

i've not been surrounded, manipulated or stimulated by anything Apple make.

does any of this really apply to over 18 yr olds??

Oh no, the badge has changed. I better get my GP to prescribe me some anti-depressants before I jump off the top of the Chaddy End headfirst. I'm never going to be able to handle this.

GET A GRIP. Its a badge people.

Then again, thinking about it, its not like us to whinge and whine about ANYTHING and EVERYTHING.

Take it you'll be the first one down the 'We Are Fifa11' store buying our lovely new Carbrini kit (sponsored by Carbrini may I add) with our lovely new badge?

No. I don't buy football shirts but I do like the new badge, even if it looks Yank-esque.

used them as an example.. apple is the branding.. being surrounded, manipulated or stimulated is the marketing side of it..

I cannot believe how bad the badge looks. Why on earth would the board allow an unskilled local guy to do something that looks like the work of an 18 yr old "web designer"?

That sort of piss poor amateurish logo design may fly with some local businesses, but why didn't Oldham go to a corporate identity specialist company, instead of a one man band.

Not happy at all and I will NEVER buy any product with it on. Next year will be the first year I have not owned the current Oldham shirt since the red and blue affair.

I will never buy anytime with this logo on bull:censored: already? Get a grip will you. As Prozac correctly mentioned in a post earlier on its modernised the badge. The problem is most Oldham fans don't like change but tough :censored: your going to see a lot more of it.
