Supporters needed to be '12th Man' on Monday

Recommended Posts

Some poeople on here have rubbished the '12th Man' role of supporters.

Cardiff last night was evidence of what can be achieved when players and supporters are in unison. There was also patriotic Welsh music played at every change of ends. Latics cannot expect support on that scale, but Paul Dickov believes supporters can play a massive part in helping Latics reach Wembley, by turning up on Monday and getting behind the team.

He said "The support we have had in recent away games at Liverpool. Huddersfield and twice at Chesterfield has been fantastic. And I know how much it spurs the boys on when they have a big crowd behind them. They mention it in the changing room and your support does make a difference."

I think the mamager should concentrate on making sure the players give it their very best effort on Monday , no excuses , rub of the green etc will be good enough.

The fans who go to the game will be right behind the lads cheering on for all they are worth as always.

Concentrate your efforts were they are needed , our mis-firing team.

"Manager asks fans to encourage team" outrage. How dare he.

While I agree that a good atmosphere does get more out of most players, how many of those games did we win?

Solution: Shout louder!

you sir are a prime example of why support for this club is going down the pan. He's only asking the fans to get behind the team ffs he's hardly lost any time working with the first team doing a 2 minute interview has he?!

Or did you prefer the days of Penney hating the fans?!

No he's not, not if he turns up.

He's just an example of the fact that manager's will always be criticised, for pretty much everything.

Dickov has made a further plea for support on Monday, directed at the stayaways who went to Liverpool.

Chesterfield will have at least 450 fans watching on TV at their stadium. Latics will have who knows how many fans watching on TV wherever. Both clubs have fans who are unable to get to BP on the night, but also have those who could make it, but can't be bothered making the effort.

However few Chesterfield supporters turn up at BP, they will certainly make themselves heard, as did the 114 Latics supporters at Scunthorpe, who helped end the Club's lengthy wait for a cup win and led to this possible Wembley date.

Anyone who is hoping to go to Wembley with Latics, and is able to go, but undecided about whether to go, to BP on Monday, would get great satisfaction about doing their bit to make the dream come true. If it's left to the diehards, and not enough atmosphere is created to lift Latics, and, more to the point, discourage Chesterfield, it will be a crying shame if the Latics support is found wanting. :OWTB1:

Yes, it's down to the players, and more often than not they let us down, but we don't only support this Club when it wins. Think of the odd occasion when the non-stop chanting of 'Blue & White Army' for several minutes has turned into a roar, as the team has scored. Nobody will convince those doing the chanting that they did not play their part. Why shouldn't it happen again on Monday? :comeon:

In spite of live TV, in spite of a bitterly cold night, let's get that additional 1,500-2,000 to BP and shout ourselves hoarse, so it can't be said "if only more had turned up". Let's recreate the Anfield Road lower section atmosphere behind both goals at BP. :chubb:

Don't put off what you could do on Monday, saving it for 25th March, when you might find yourself with enough time on your hands to watch the Spireites on TV at Wembley. :disappointed:
