simplythemostimportantkick
was thinking the same but didnt want to rock the boat as such, the pitch invaders would look like complete twats instead of slight twats then

jbrown23
Invading the pitch before we're mathematically safe is beyond stupid, regardless of whether we're "pretty much safe" or "near enough safe". We're not safe until its mathematically finished. Being Oldham I wouldn't be surprised if it went down to the last day of the season
Crusoe
I think we will be fine, but it does still ring of a Danny Baker "Nothing can go wrong now!" moment.
singe
Do tend to agree, but we are considerably safer than we were before Saturday, and miles more if Scunthorpe had won and we lost. No assume from me though, just very optimistic. And imprssed that LJ has got a team that will be splitting up and misfired all season to purr nicely

Latics and England
I think we will be fine. That said, if we were to lose on Saturday and Scunthorpe somehow pick up a win at MK Dons I would be very worried again.

bigfatjoe1
all these threads that assume we are safe... Agree 100% Watched them for too long. Experience suggests that if you say anything positive about the team then it's asking for trouble. Fat lady is warming up, but not there yet. Baxter20
We are safe! There's no way Scunthorpe beat both MK Dons and Swindon
opinions4u
Five results have to go against us. One draw in any of those five games saves us. Not draws. Outright wins / losses have to relegate us. Even without that, there's always the Colchester wildcard! I know it's Latics, but, while the Maths rightly urges a little caution, we're not going down. Dave_Og
You'd bet against your team? Might think abnout it if odds were right but as I suggest Lancy is offering evens then probably not. I'll extract my tongue from my cheek now

lancy lad
On a more serious not Dave, we will be reet now. No way will Scunny get more than a point out of their 2 matches IMO. I think we will also beat Crawley on Saturday.
Twisbrogan
I feel we're safer now than I did at the start of the season. However, over many years I've learnt that however confident, complacent, nervous or downbeat I am about Latics, it makes not one jot of difference to the team. Similarly, nor does the 'lucky' underwear/ pre match routine I have. So, I'll say it - we're safe.
jimsleftfoot
I was thinking after Tuesday that we will be safe. It's doubtfull that Scunny will get two wins in a row. However, if they do win and we lose on Saturday, the confidence will drop somewhat. We need to make sure on Saturday.

the_mighty_bosh
This doesn't indicate that Scunny are fighting for their lives. http://www.bbc.co.uk/sport/0/football/22183181
Hands on
It is possible that Scunthorpe in considering themselves 'relegated' will play with more freedom and find themselves winning on Saturday. It is also possible that Swindon will secure their play-off place on Saturday and then field a weakened team against Scunthorpe who could again surprise themselves and win. So no we are not safe. It is in our hands as 1 point from 9 is all we need. So we need a 'result' on Saturday. Then you can run on the pitch, drink yourself silly or relax at last. jimsleftfoot
Scunny have got MK Dons away on Saturday. I don't think Laws or the Scunny players have it in them to play mind games so it probably is a true reflection of how they feel. After mucking up at Bury, have they got it in them to take on MK who are in 7th place?
