Probably but if we offer him a new one in writing and at least equal terms we get compensation anyway if he rejects that deal in favour of someone else. Seriously, don't add insult to injury by claiming we're building for the future, unless LJ is talking about the Conference. We're not even making enough money out of the sales to seriously invest and build for the future. Rather, we're relying on non league players and misfits, hoping and praying they'll come good. If we'd made 2-3 big signings, which we expected after Rooney, then these gamble signings would be okay. Now it looks like they are the future. Tarky and Simpson were the future. Rather, we're relying on non league players and misfits, hoping and praying they'll come good. It's a fairly good formula for small, well managed clubs. When we have 10,000+ crowds week in week out I'll expect us to compete in the transfer window. Until that day come, what you see it, with the occasional exception, what you're going to get.
