Have you gone on tablets recently? Bit of positivity goes a long way Cassidy has a 1 in 5 ratio having been messed about quite a lot. Well regarded by managers and his interview on leaving Wolves very sensible. Give the lads a chance. Same with Murphy he wasnt fit when arrived, shafted by Johnson re the transfer when he was on brink of leaving and into a struggling side.

I want them to improve their goalscoring records. If they don't we'll need another striker. Or two.

I'm neither being positive or negative, just FACTual.

I'd say that's covered most angles, in FACT a comprehensive assessment.

Possibly page 47 in LJ's manual FACT file dossier

If we are being factual..

He'll either; start hitting the net as per his previous purple patch, muddle along averagely or continue his barren spell of the last 74 games.

Time will tell.

We've signed 100's of players in the last 18 years. So past performance is no guarantee. We've taken a punt. I'm very hopeful he'll turn into an astute signing, but of the 100's we've signed less than 1% have turned to be gems. So I am realistic. Hence, why I am not getting excited.

And if he does a bit of an Adam Rooney let's give him time FFS (as long as there's something there)

I like the fact he seems to be signing specialists rather than versatile players who can play badly in several different positions.

Agreed...the only risk is if we have our main player and their understudy being injured/suspended we are fookded for cover.

Hopefully we have a more injury free season than last year! Although Xmas is always the timne when the squad is tested to its limits...maybe Darren plans to draught in some youngsters/loans to bolster us at this time of year....we usually cope pretty well up until December.

There is a history of misusing strikers - Rooney the latest obvious case. What we have now should be good enough.

The holes are in the defence. An older keeper who can fill in and coach is a good idea. A centre half or two would complete the team. With a bit of luck we will all be dreaming again at Christmas.

It's an absolutely fair comment. We've often played where the onus is on possession and ball retention rather than getting balls into the box. Strikers such as Adam Rooney thrive on mis-timed clearances by opposing defenders and crosses into the box. He was absolutely wasted by LJ here. Just a case of totally wrong personel for the job. We'd have been better getting a lump in up front just to hold it up.

I've always thought the more balls pumped into a box, no matter if they're scuffed in or even over-hit on occasions, will lead to more goal opportunities. Defenders at this level just aren't class enough to soak EVERY one up. There's plenty of ricochets and hacked clearances that will fall to one of our players in a decent position.

Trouble is, the strikers at this level aren't usually good enough to capitalise on the banjo/cows arse opportunities that arise either.

And by the same token midfielders at this level aren't good enough to thread balls through eyes of needles either. At our level crosses behind defenders always cause no end of problems for Division 3 cart horses. I believe we see more ball retention bollocks due to coaches who need to display that, er, artistry in order to look good in interviews for their next job (hopefully at a higher level).
