singe
I don't know, Burnley don't mess about. What they paid for Gray looked over the odds, I wouldn't be surprised if they slapped 6 or 7 million down for Tarky just to make sure it gets done I'm sceptical we'd be that lucky! singe
I reckon that's probably it.... I can only think of the following of £1m+....? Earl Barrett, Latics to Villa £1.7m Paul Gerrard, Latics to Everton £1.5m Richie Wellens, Doncaster to Leicester £1.2m Andy Goram, Hibs to Rangers £1m Mike Milligan, Latics to Everton £1m Richard Jobson, Latics to Leeds £1m ...unless you want to go with players who played for us after their big money transfer happened...? Lee Hughes, West Brom to Coventry £5m Shefki Kuqi, Blackburn to Palace £2.5m Sean Gregan, Preston to West Brom £2m He means one of our own youth products. At £7m (as if we'd be so lucky), he'd be right up there for our transfer record in his own right!!!
deyres42
I don't think he does, cos Warhurst was Man City's youth product.... we bought him for £10k because he had asthma..... No, you're right, I was just thinking in terms of players after they've left us.
MAC0AFC
Bitmingham's local paper say west brom are interested http://www.birminghammail.co.uk/sport/football/transfer-news/west-brom-transfers-albion-linked-10719987?utm_source=twitterfeed&utm_medium=twitter West Brom must be looking for a team of Centre Backs? Craig Dawson, Jonny Evans, Jonas Ollson, James Chester, Gareth MaCauley add to that James Tarkowski and you've got 5 decent defenders capable of playing premier league and then a new signing that's not going to want to sit on the bench? Odd that they're interested.

NewBlue
Between August and January of the season he left he was a Rolls-Royce. Now he costs more than one... What are the chances of him picking up an England cap. Only just turned 23.
MAC0AFC
McAuley is now 36 though, Olsson 32, and Dawson plays fullback. Aye, true - Dawson in my eyes is class at Centre Back but is probably their most flexible defender so gets pushed out.James Chester also very good. deyres42
So it's over 20 years since we sold anyone for anywhere near a million. Obviously there will be plenty of teams who never have but still.
BP1960
I wouldn't bank on a bidding war, sometimes players move to clubs where better personal terms are offered.
HarryBosch
I'm surprised Pulis would be interested in such a player
Stevie_J
I wouldn't bank on a bidding war, sometimes players move to clubs where better personal terms are offered. They can only discuss personal terms after an offer is accepted. The bidding war takes place before that stage.
singe
I think the most important aspect of this bidding war, is how much is agent trying big up the demand and how much is genuine interest.

Clint Hill and Fitz Hall should have gone for around that figure if we wasn't having a fire-sale.

palmer1
Is that true? Can you even contract and sell an 11-year-old? Chron say s he joined Blackburn from us as an 11 yr old in a deal potentially worth up to 240k... ATHLETIC could be set for a transfer window windfall after Burnley reportedly stepped up their interest in James Tarkowski. The former Athletic defender, very impressive since his move to Brentford two years ago, is the subject of a failed £2.3million bid from the Clarets. But it appears the Championship side will go back with a second offer for the highly-promising centre back of £3m-plus. With Athletic holding an interest in the player’s future through a sell-on clause, a successful transfer would provide a massive financial boost. The deal that saw Tarkowski (23) leave for West London included an initial undisclosed fee paid to Athletic as well as a top-up after the Bees gained promotion to the Championship. Then-manager Lee Johnson also revealed a sell-on clause had been included - and if that is 10 per cent of the total, a £3million deal to take Tarkowski back north to Turf Moor could realise in excess of £250,000 - cash most welcome for finishing off the heavily-delayed north stand. Manager David Dunn, who last week lost top scorer Danny Philliskirk to Blackpool for £75,000, would also hope a chunk of any money would find its way into the player budget. Dunn is on the look-out for goalkeeping competition, a new centre back, a midfield replacement for Richie Wellens, and possibly a striker, while hoping some fringe players are shipped out. Philliskirk (24) has earned Athletic cash twice before; first in a move to Chelsea as a 16 year old for a fee of around £150,000, then last week in the Blackpool switch. Fellow youth team product Tarkowski has also been sold by the club twice, the first as an 11 year old to Blackburn in a deal potentially worth £240,000. The New Moston-born centre of excellence star returned five years later to take up a scholarship at the club. The defender could now make the club money for a third time. palmer1
The fact he came back suggests we probably saw little or none of that money as he didnt progress to the aqquired level at Blackburn Edited January 12, 2016 by palmer1

Stevie_J
Most deals are 20% sell on, why did we settle for 10%? I suspect we didn't but sources at the club are probably throwing the 10% figure out to the journalists.
Stevie_J
ah yes the classic 'rarely wrong' tag. Such fun! I was only messing. I'll take their word for it. Like you say, the deal was probably worth next to nothing the way it panned out. Makes you wonder how many other kids we sell for fees like that, that we never hear about. palmer1
Most deals are 20% sell on, why did we settle for 10%? Most deals? Name 5 not including Richards we may have settled for 10% for more cash up front. Didnt Bury have 10% on Chris Armstrong or Dale Stephens? Senor_Coconut
Maybe we settled for 10% for more money if they got promoted.
RoyleArmy1994
Shocker! Yet you get clubs like Rochdale who put 15-20% sell on clause on transfers.
