HarryBosch
It isn't but we need to win 2 more than those directly above us just to get level, a big ask for a team that has only won 3 all season. People thinking we are certain to improve seemingly discounting the probability of the others doing so too. But those directly above us are :censored:. We just need to be a bit less :censored:. beag_teeets
Stop playing for the draws would keep us up. Peterborough and Doncaster are examples of teams who have fired off boring negative managers and replaced them with managers who will take risks and have a go, we could win 9 and lose the other 13 games and still have a chance of staying up, the league is that tight its what we do against the teams around us that's going to count we have to go for it let the players express themselves and allow them to do what they do best - play football, the foundation for Dunn and Co's failure was firmly set at Doncaster in his first game when we went there not to lose and played for a 0-0 draw against a team who'd mustered one goal from open play in eight games. At the time we were a team that had just shipped 5 against Peterborough, changed manager and looked like the wheels could really come off. Playing for a 0-0 made complete sense, games do not happen in isolation there are many factors that determine results.
Andy-latic
We'll finish about 6/7 points off the playoffs... 28/1 for a top half finish is just printing money

Agree but the only way that will happen is if Sheridan's been told that going down won't result in him losing his job.

Hank Kingsley
optimistic it can be done, need a bit of luck as well but half a season to reach 15th. Then review who has rolled sleeves up and dug deep. Jones, Kelly are critical re injuries and suspensions. Murphy played right will get goals. Bit of confidence in young players but likes of Croft, have to do more or will be gone again. If Winchester cant learn from Shez he doesnt deserve his place. Longest serving player Connor Brown? is that right? Err he already has been... And what will Shez be teaching Winchester then that he doesn't already know? "If you don't put it in you won't be in the team.." How many games has he started this season again?

If we average mid table form for the rest of the season that should see us comfortably safe. It's not a massive leap in form to achieve that. Whether we will or not is the big question. Hometownclub
I am very optimistic that we can stay up now, especially if Shez can bring in a Centre Half, Goalkeeper and Striker. As previously stated finances will dictate who he can bring in. Although I think he can improve what we currently have.
BP1960
It's better to win one and lose one than draw two as a great man once said..... Probably why 3 points for a win was introduced.
Latics and England
After Saturday we have Bury, Shrewsbury and Blackpool as our next 3 games. I think these will go a long way towards showing whether we can stay up. As a minimum we need 2 wins from these 4 games and then our position will look much better. Otherwise, the gap will start looking rather daunting. Shez's appointment should hopefully lift the team, and undoubtably will lift the fans but we shouldn't think he is some kind of miracle worker. it's going to be very tight but we have a chance. Without a managerial change I don't think we had that chance.
Magister
Where did the last team Shez managed in this league finish?
sjk2008
Hopefully we give Shez time and not expect survival as the absolute minimum. If we go down, we will have a manager who has the ability to get us back up. Hoping he's given a 2 1/2 year deal so show him so faith and gives us fans a sense of longevity regarding the current regime.
L1onheartNew
Hypothetical: What if we won the next 6, and suddenly found ourselves 9 points off the play offs with a game in hand. Would we still play glass half empty with one eye on the teams below us, or would we go all out for a big push for sixth?
NewBlue
We'd be nowhere near the bottom 4 if we won 6 on the bounce.

NewBlue
OK throw in at least three out of the bottom six to also improve as is what usually happens Still undoubtedly promotion. The momentum of a run of form like that surely wouldn't disperse dramatically enough to end in relegation form. Not to mention there will be teams who will be dragged downwards as well as those with improved form.

dec666
The biggest thing for me is that this is a completely fresh management team for these players, I think it's going to make a big difference. Since Johnson left we've seen Holden and Dunn promoted from within and Darren Kelly didn't seem to command any respect. I just think new faces and a guy like Shez who won't accept any slacking will see the current lot finally step it back up.
