youngen
I still can't believe nobody's ever made a football song from the chorus of this (1.43), especially Barnsley who they support... I hope the Athleticos dont get their hands on this, and ruin a fantastic tune
disjointed
I beg to differ. I usually have lots of bottles before I sing swords of a thousand men most Friday nights after and during games of disjointed ping pong as we affectionately call it What the :censored: did I do to deserve that. doggy_oafc
It works as a stand alone song if just singing the chorus. But also, I've thought long and hard about the lyrics and I think I've come up with an Oldham version. Took a while, hopefully it's not so complicated it puts people off. As doggy suggested, to the tune of Air that I breathe by the hollies... Sometimes, all I need is the air that I breathe And the Oldham All I need is the air that I breathe Yes The Oldham All I need is the air that I breathe Perfect. Simple, catchy and you can hurl your lungs into it. Also no-one else sings it, it'd be ours. Come on Athleticos, pull your fingers out. Woof. Come on Athleticos, pull your fingers out. Woof. In fairness to the Athleticos, as much as I don't like what they do, they've taken the initiative to step up to the plate. That song is better than anything new from the past year but it won't get sung without yourself or others doing it... steveoafc
Maybe not an anthem as such but "Wandering star" could be changed to "I was born in the chaddy end"........with a bit of work of course.

milnrow latics
Wandering Star was sung by the Chaddy End in the late 60s early 70s. Some on here will remember the lyrics
steveoafc
Didn't we also used to sing "come on you mighty blues" to the tune of Mary Hopkins' " Those were the days" ?
philliggi
Can't believe no one has suggested the re recording of boys in blue. Everything else would just feel fake and adopted. This is our anthem. Problem is it sound a little dated now. Someone needs to do a cover version. I'm sure there is a local band or group yet to be discovered by the masses who who would do it for next to nowt

GlossopLatic
You know all it requires to get a song going is for a group of mates usually well oiled is to start singing it at a series of away games and then the rest eventually join in. underdog
I was going to suggest James brown... " I feel good", but wasn't he arrested for perving on women in his club? How about a bit of Barry white, " your my first, my last, my everything...." Didn't we have a thread on this several months ago? Edit, from another thread from a line...what a difference a manager makes, well I don't know who sings the song a lady but we could adapt it..." What a difference a day (manager) makes, 24 little hours, what a difference a day(manager) makes...and the difference is you (Sheridan)... NewBlue
Surely I am the Shezurrection should be the anthem! In all seriousness, it would be a disgusting display of negligence if we didn't have this as a song, or the adaption of Common People. Somebody, anybody, sing it at Scunthorpe... NewBlue
We took him to a supermarket I don't know why but we had to start it somewhere, so it started there. We told him that we had no money, he just laughed and said you're so funny. I don't care. I'll bring Matty Palmer here. I'm blaming it on the tiredness. Anyone else finish it off/start it anew? singe
At this stage, I think it should be firmly established that it is Shezurrection rather than Shezerection. Whilst 5he later is possibly understandable, and a symptom of the former, there is clearly a prominent difference..... People mistakenly typing Shezerection in public may was well be wandering around in public such an aroused state....!
singe
Since I saw Shezurrection I find nyself singing the line He makes light if this dull Dull day and then open out to We all need a Shez Resurrection in full glory. To myself of course. It even contains a line about [OASIS] barren land! Probably just me...! Edited February 24, 2016 by singe
