GlossopLatic
Down down, not going down... You know we wouldn't even need to change the lyrics except change resurrection to shezurrection. It's an easy enough song to sing along to and one a lot of our fan Base will know the lyrics to anyway.

yarddog73
Problem with any anthem sang in a football ground is it needs to be sang in a controlled manner by a group of adults, not led by pubescent teens who sing like they are on speed. Other than that it would work as an anthem for me and I'd be happy if it was played prior to the players coming out to see if it would catch on. #Shezurrection

bigfatjoe1
Elton John - I guess that's why they call it the Blues? Don't wish it awayDon't look at it like it's forever Between you and me I could honestly say That things can only get better And while I'm away Dust out the demons inside And it won't be long before you and me run To the place in our hearts where we hide And I guess that's why they call it the bluesTime on my hands could be time spent with you Laughing like children, living like lovers Rolling like thunder under the covers And I guess that's why they call it the blues
bigfatjoe1
Surely I am the Shezurrection should be the anthem! Elton has some poignant lyrics, but, i agree, this is brilliant. Down, down, you bring me down I hear you knocking down my door And I can't sleep at night. Your face it has no place No room for you inside my house I need to be alone. Don't waste your words I don't need anything from you, I don't care where you've been or what you plan to do. Turn, turn, I wish you'd learn There's a time and place for everything I've got to get it through. Cut loose 'cause you're no use I couldn't stand another Second in your company. Don't waste your words I don't need anything from you, I don't care where you've been or what you plan to do. Stone me why can't you see You're a no one nowhere washed up baby Who'd look better dead. Your tongue is far too long I don't like the way it sucks and Slurs upon my every word. Don't waste your words I don't need anything from you, I don't care where you've been or what you plan to do. I am the resurrection and I am the life, I couldn't ever bring myself to hate you as I'd like. I am the resurrection and I am the life, I couldn't ever bring myself to hate you as I'd like. palmer1
if its a club anthem then surely a manger who will leave in the future shouldnt be mentioned in it? especially when our wondeful fans tend to turn on the flavour of the month the minute it even looks like going tits up. Agreed, even though fans have been justified on both occasions this season... Club anthem is separate of managers, owners or players. It is about the fans and their culture. Scapegoat
Not sure on the obsession to re-word the tunes. Forest (Loving feeling), Stoke (Delilah), Liverpool (Never Walk), City (Blue Moon), West Ham (Bubbles) etc are famously theirs and not needed cheesy rewording. Having read and heard this conversation many times over the last quarter of a century I don't have much hope it will achieve the goal - but would love it to be successful. Find a good song with a good chorus and try and stick with it. The idea of a local band link is a good one. Inspirals?

opinions4u
As clichéd as it gets For as long as football songs have existed they've been pinched by others. Very few are unique. I do yearn for old classics such as "You're going to get your f***ing head kicked in". I'd like a bit more Zigger Zagger. A slow Oh When The Blues is close to unique. I cringe at the Super Oldham Super Oldham chant, more so when I hear a foreign club's fans sing it on telly. Stockport's "The Scarf" is a fairly modern creation so it is possible for us to get something new in place I suppose.

Stagger Lee
Mouldy old dough is the latics anthem and if you don't like it the door is over there Lyrics are easy to learn, they even make sense if we get a former sheff utd stiker

Guest nonaenever
Said it before and I'll say it again. Get "the boys in blue" remastered by a local band. Can't agree - it's too "high pitched" - i.e. it sounds girly and squeaky when you sing the chorus (if you know what I mean) - we need a proper baritone manly type of song! And agree with the previous poster - Mouldy Old Dough should always be played when we come out onto the pitch - makes my hair stand on end to this day - don't think it's suitable for a fans' singing anthem though. longtimeblue
Said it before and I'll say it again. Get "the boys in blue" remastered by a local band. 'A woo woo woo'. As much as I love it for reminding me of a simpler era (in terms of supporting Latics and life in general), don't reckon it's stood the test of time.
