Nobody is bitching.

Soz for not getting the cans in because they managed to pay the wages on time for once.

Its a hell of a lot more than that though and you know it.  Loads of initiatives for fans, sprucing up the stadium, the stand namings and a generally more positive outlook and environment.  You’re a miserable git.

Good grief. Community initiatives and financial troubles aren't mutually exclusive.

I don't think anybody is saying there aren't good vibes coming out of the club but it's not unreasonable to be cautious about whether a corner has been turned just because we've finally paid the wages on time and a couple of things the club don't have to pay for have been sorted.

All while slashing the wage bill to the lowest level for many years.

Dead cat bounce and all that... ?

I'd be surprised if the wage bill is much lower than it was at the same point in the season under Robinson or the Dazzler

Got to agree. There's a normal mix of old pros and youth. Clarke, for example, will be on a solid pay packet. A few others such as Taylor, O Grady,  Miller, Duffus etc on a level below that.

Can't be a million miles away from post administration levels now?

It will have been pretty high post administration. We still had the Applebys and the Killens around. We have a squad now and most have been here for pre season, no comparison to the Kelly era.

Let’s face it last year our wage budget was the highest in years. Now we have had to reduce that to ‘living within our means’ for the first time in probably 10 years.

People still think we have this magic money tree yet that was taken away by Corney and co when they moved the new stand to their ownership. Time people moved on and stopped complaining about it. Same old people moaning everyday. Does get tiresome.

Some serious budget restraints in place if the only person we could sign on deadline day was a crock from Villa who may not even play for us...

Why wouldn't there be? The owner has never pretended he is a billionaire; you are probably too young to remember Moore.

Seven months into a takeover and we are already onto severe budget restraints? That don't sound too promising...

Is there a rule that the last signing has to be an expensive one or else you're under, "severe budget restraints?" Perhaps we just got offered a freebie at the last minute

He has put 3 million into the club to get us on an even keel.  This year is about getting some stability and putting in place a solid foundation.  Maybe next season, once all debts are cleared, he can increase the playing budget.

We are sixth in the league, crowds are up, pitch and stadium no longer an embarrasment and fans are looking forward to the next game. Does that not put a smile on your face?

Will do if things are still going well come Christmas time.

Be interested to hear what happened to Mark Moisley and if they plan to replace him (perhaps they already have?) ?

There is no real rush to replace him as Barry Owen is currently acting as Interim Chief Executive. AL is dlearly drawing on the remaining experience within the club to help us move forward.

If we are still top seven come Christmas I will be very happy,

Lets face it though Abdallah is on a hiding to nothing, on one hand he gets publicly shamed by an Oldham fan in the National press for over spending and throwing a couple of million around yet gets chastised for running the club in a way the said reporter suggested, he can't do wrong for doing right.

What does it matter what the budget is though? Just last season Accrington and Shrewsbury proved in the lower leagues that money doesn't buy success and if anything a bigger budget (look nearer to home) brings it's own problems, managing egos for one.

I love our team at the moment, it's a great mix of older heads who still want to prove themselves and young lads who hopefully will go from strength to strength. Of course we are a couple short - every team is but we have have two or three to come back and if we maintain our form I've no doubt we will strengthen further.

We are sixth in the league not sixth bottom as you may well think if you read this forum as an outsider, what do some of our fans actually want? Are they going to be banging the same drum next week if we win tomorrow and sit second or third in the table? It's as if some of our own fans want it all to go pop just to fuel their agendas.

Strange.

Then you'll be saying how things normally fall apart in February and we should wait till then. Or March.  Or April. We could go up champions and you and a few others be saying "but wait, things normally go wrong in the summer"
