HarryBosch Posted June 20, 2017 Posted June 20, 2017 (edited) Who played the most games for us without ever scoring a goal? Asking as this is a 6 year olds definition of our worst ever player I like the sentiment so won't be discouraging it at this juncture Edited June 20, 2017 by HarryBosch

wogghead1 Posted June 20, 2017 Posted June 20, 2017 I remember Nicky banger being great on loan, then we signed him and he took ages to score after that iirc

Asking as this is a 6 year olds definition of our worst ever player I like the sentiment so won't be discouraging it at this juncture There's a lot to be said for the wisdom of 6 year olds. I remember watching England on the TV with my daughter who was 6/7 and trying to explain the concept of the national team i.e. It's made up of the best players from all the club teams. She thought about it for ten seconds and said which one's Chrissie Porter?
LaticsPete Posted June 21, 2017 Posted June 21, 2017 Tommy Bell played 181 times for Latics 1946-52 without scoring. His son Graham did a bit better - 9 goals in 182 matches

Indeed whenever I watched him play for us I don't recollect him ever crossing the halfway line. He was a cultured defender though. I sometimes wonder what his own goal tally was?

palmer1 Posted June 21, 2017 Posted June 21, 2017 Gregan played 120+ and only scored once but his o.g at Scunny cancels that one out anyway surely. To think at one point he'd played 1 scored 1.

OldhamSheridan Posted June 21, 2017 Posted June 21, 2017 Scored at Exeter in the 1-1 Dean Brill penalty save game didn't he?

OldhamSheridan Posted June 21, 2017 Posted June 21, 2017 I could have said: Scored in the Dean Brill save game.

He was credited with it at the time, but it was going yards wide before the defender deflected it in...
